Fans of Martin Clunes (known for Doc Martin) can now enjoy his latest film at home. This heartwarming and funny story, written and directed by Nick Moorcroft, is set in the West Country and follows a family who own a pub that’s fallen on hard times. They decide to try and revive their fortunes – and their spirits – by entering the Great British Beer Awards.
Written with Meg Leonard, Mother’s Pride features Martin Clunes as the patriarch of the Harley family and Jonno Davies as his returning son. Their reunion isn’t easy, and the father and son quickly face challenges.
Okay, so the movie is finally out for us to buy digitally! I checked, and it’s £13.99 on both Amazon and Apple TV. Sadly, you can’t rent it right now, you gotta buy it if you want to watch it at home.

Critics weren’t impressed with Mother’s Pride after it came out in March. Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes were mostly negative, with Empire calling it a dull, uninspired story – like a flat beer – and The Guardian describing it as bland and unmemorable.
Despite any potential flaws, audiences really enjoyed the film’s blend of humor and emotional depth. Letterboxd users described it as both touching and excellent.

Viewers loved this heartwarming and humorous film. One fan described it as a ‘simple, funny, bittersweet little tale’ that’s ‘just nice to watch when you need cheering up.’ Another called it ‘absolutely brilliant,’ praising both its humor and story.
IMDb viewers enjoyed the film’s ability to transport them to another world, and many also noted its subtle observations about the difficulties pubs are facing today. One viewer wrote that it perfectly captured the essence of being British and growing up in a working-class family.

Another viewer said they weren’t expecting much from the movie, but were surprised by how happy it left them feeling.
Martin Clunes and Tom Davies are part of a talented British ensemble cast, featuring James Buckley from The Inbetweeners, along with Mark Addy, Gabriella Wilde, Luke Treadaway, and Miles Jupp.
You can now buy Mother’s Pride from digital stores like Amazon and Apple TV.
