Euphoria star breaks silence on character’s brutal death in season 3

Jacob Elordi, a star of the show Euphoria, has spoken about his character Nate Jacobs’ shocking death in the most recent episode. With the show ending after its third season, Elordi described the way his character died as “a cool way to go.”

The hit show Euphoria is back, and it’s been a while! This season jumps ahead in time, showing what life looks like for the characters of East Highland High as young adults. Nate and Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney), who have a complicated history, got married earlier in the season. They found themselves mixed up with a dangerous gangster named Naz (Jack Topalian) as they tried to pay off a debt.

The recent episode, ‘Rain or Shine,’ featured a dangerous situation where Naz trapped Nate inside a coffin with only an oxygen pipe for air. Meanwhile, Cassie desperately tried to pay off their debt to Naz. Tragically, a snake crawled into the oxygen pipe and bit Nate, resulting in his death.

In a conversation with HBO after the show, Elordi explained that his character, Nate, had made a lot of bad decisions. He said it felt satisfying to see those choices finally lead to their consequences.

The actor, who recently appeared in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights, described a particularly confined scene as surprisingly calm, saying, “It was really nice, actually – it was quite peaceful in there.”

He explained that his shoulders were pressed against the sides, preventing him from moving his arms. Then, they would seal the lid shut, plunging him into darkness.

Elordi shared that working with animals on set was sometimes scary, recalling one instance where he was confined in a box near snakes, which he found quite alarming.

He explained that the rattling snakes were frightening while he was trapped in a box. He also surprisingly described one of the snakes as “super cute” and “really cuddly.”

He added: “He was a sleepy snake. I had to kind of nudge him to get him to come up.”

New episodes of Euphoria premiere on HBO in the US on Sunday evenings. Viewers in the UK can watch on Sky Atlantic, NOW, and HBO Max starting at 2 AM on Monday mornings.
