For over forty years, Dragon Ball has captivated fans with thrilling stories, over-the-top action, and ways for its characters to constantly improve. While it’s great to see these characters grow stronger, the most memorable moments happen when they achieve a completely new transformation. These powerful new forms, especially the Super Saiyan transformations, are a hallmark of Dragon Ball and have become a popular element in many other action-packed anime and manga.
Even now, Dragon Ball continues to build its story around characters getting stronger, using these power-ups to drive the plot and win fights, though it sometimes feels like they’ve reached their limits. While Goku and Vegeta have already transformed in many different ways, there’s still potential for other characters to develop. The Dragon Ball Super manga is gearing up for a major battle against Black Frieza, and that probably means we’ll see some new transformations – hopefully from characters who haven’t gotten much focus recently.
Goten & Trunks Are Long Overdue For Redemptive New Forms
The Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z hinted that Goten and Trunks would become incredibly strong fighters. As kids, they easily achieved the Super Saiyan transformation and even briefly accessed the power of Super Saiyan 3 when fused as Gotenks. It’s surprising, then, that after thirty years, they haven’t shown much growth in power. In fact, they’ve recently had trouble even successfully fusing together.
Toyotarou has expressed a desire to give Goten a more prominent role in a future story arc. One way to do this would be to introduce a new transformation for him, even something like Super Saiyan 2, to make him feel relevant again. Fans would be thrilled to see teenage versions of Goten and Trunks both achieve Super Saiyan 3, especially if they helped each other reach that level. Similarly, a new form for Gotenks, like Super Saiyan God, would be a fantastic addition for fans.
Pan Is Brimming With Potential & Represents Dragon Ball’s Next Generation
I’ve noticed that Pan, being only three years old, hasn’t really had a proper fight yet in Dragon Ball Super, which isn’t surprising. Still, she’s already doing amazing things – flying at such a young age and showing real talent as a martial artist, thanks to Piccolo’s training, and she’s naturally gifted with ki. A lot of fans used to criticize the fact that she never became a Super Saiyan in Dragon Ball GT. Back then, we hadn’t seen any female Super Saiyans in the series. But now, after seeing characters like Kale and Caulifla, it feels almost certain that Pan will eventually unlock that transformation.
The Dragon Ball series has evolved significantly since the first Super Saiyan transformation. Many fans are hoping to see Pan achieve this level and unlock her full power. While Super Saiyan Pan wouldn’t be as strong as other Saiyans, it would be a crucial first step in her development, potentially leading to even greater forms. A vengeful act by Black Frieza against characters like Gohan, Goku, or Piccolo could be the catalyst she needs to reach this powerful state.
Legendary Super Saiyan Broly Needs To Prove Himself With New Power
Fans of Dragon Ball were happy to see the powerful Super Saiyan Broly live through the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly and join forces with the heroes. While Dragon Ball Super hasn’t explored Broly’s story much since his movie debut, it’s a good sign that he’s now training with Goku and Vegeta on Beerus’ Planet.
The ending of the Super Hero Saga shows Broly now being able to control his powerful, rage-fueled transformations. Goku thinks Broly might even be able to master Gohan’s new Beast form, but wants to learn more about how that form works and its connection to Gohan first.
While we might not see Broly’s Beast form again in Dragon Ball Super, it’s probable a new powerful transformation is coming. The series could officially recognize the Legendary Super Saiyan 3 form, making Broly even stronger. His training with Vegeta suggests he might also be able to unlock the Ultra Ego transformation naturally. Plus, the recent appearance of a similar transformation in Dragon Ball DAIMA makes this even more likely.
Future Trunks’ Monumental Breakthroughs Are Held Back Through Fringe Forms
Future Trunks is a remarkably powerful character in the Dragon Ball series, known for his resilience and repeatedly saving his devastated future. He was the first to achieve the Super Saiyan Second and Third Grade transformations in Dragon Ball Z. A highlight of his story in Dragon Ball Super is the unique Super Saiyan Rage form, which wasn’t officially named in the manga. The upcoming Dragon Ball Super remake might offer a clearer explanation of this transformation, potentially allowing it to return or evolve into an even more powerful state.
While Future Trunks has shown the power of Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan God in video games and the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series, these forms haven’t been officially recognized in the main story. If Future Trunks returns to battle Black Frieza, it would be a great opportunity to make one of these transformations official. He’s even trained with Future Shin, which suggests he’s capable of unlocking divine energy and abilities.
Tien Is A Masterful Martial Artist Who Deserves To Ascend His Human Limitations
Many Dragon Ball fans overlook the fact that Tien was once stronger than Goku and a genuine competitor. Throughout the series, Tien has consistently proven himself as a determined and clever fighter, mastering techniques like the Solar Flare, Tri-Beam, and Multi-Form Technique. While he’s improved his skills and represented Universe 7 well in the Tournament of Power, he still seems overshadowed by characters who can transform into more powerful forms.
Tien, being human, has natural limitations, but Goku could greatly increase his power by teaching him the Kaio-Ken. Learning Ultra Instinct from Master Roshi would also be incredibly beneficial. He could even tap into the power of the Demon Realm’s Evil Third Eye, potentially unlocking a terrifying new form similar to King Gomah from Dragon Ball DAIMA. Because other Z-Fighters have become so strong, Tien hasn’t needed a power boost, even though he’s certainly capable of achieving one.
Dragon Ball Has Barely Scratched The Surface Of What’s Possible With Buu
It’s natural to be hesitant when Mr. Satan asks for Good Buu to be saved. Since then, Buu has been relatively trouble-free, but he’s usually defeated in fights because of his overwhelming power and ability to quickly heal. Because of this, Buu isn’t allowed to compete in tournaments like the Tournament of Destroyers and the Tournament of Power. However, his special abilities actually make him a great candidate for a new, more powerful form. His training for the Tournament of Power briefly unlocks “Fit Buu,” a stronger version that could potentially return and become even more powerful in the future.
The fight with Moro showed the Grand Supreme Kai taking control of Buu’s body and using his divine energy through him. Similarly, in Dragon Ball GT, Buu helped Uub become stronger by fusing with him to create Majuub. These kinds of developments would be great for Buu’s character in the future of Dragon Ball Super. Another possibility is for Buu to absorb Majin Kuu and Majin Duu from the Demon Realm, making him even more powerful.
Universe 6’s Caulifla & Kale Are Exceptional Saiyans On The Cusp Of Greatness
Cabba initially stood out as the first Saiyan from Universe 6 to compete in the Tournament of Destroyers, but Caulifla and Kale later surpassed him during the Tournament of Power. What makes the Saiyans of Universe 6 unique is their naturally higher S-Cell count, which makes it easier for them to become Super Saiyans. Caulifla quickly achieved Super Saiyan 2 and almost reached Super Saiyan 3 with little effort. Considering the time that has passed since the Tournament of Power, it’s likely that Caulifla’s training has allowed her to master Super Saiyan 3.
Kefla, the fusion of Caulifla and Kale, was already a powerful competitor in the Tournament of Power, even in her Super Saiyan 2 form. Kale’s Legendary Super Saiyan transformation is similar to Super Saiyan 2 and would further enhance her abilities.
