Off Campus boss confirms whether Hannah and Garrett will return for season 2 with new romance

Prime Video’s series Off Campus premiered earlier this month, and good news for fans – a second season is already being made! The show, based on the popular books by Elle Kennedy, is about a high-ranking college ice hockey team and the relationships they have at the made-up Briar University.

The first season centered around a love story between Hannah Wells, a reserved songwriter played by Ella Bright, and Garrett Graham, a popular hockey player portrayed by Belmont Cameli. Their characters were an unlikely pair.

Because the show Off Campus plans to focus on different couples each season, similar to Bridgerton, viewers are concerned that Hannah and Garrett’s love story won’t be a major part of future episodes.

I was so excited to hear from the showrunner, Louisa Levy, in Entertainment Weekly! She said that even though the show is exploring other storylines, we’re still going to see more of Hannah and Garrett in season 2, which is fantastic news for fans of their relationship like me.

According to Levy, Hannah and Garrett will continue to appear in season two, but their relationship won’t be the main focus of the storyline this season.

Levy believes that while things often work out well in the end, there’s usually another romantic connection that remains unresolved.

That’s the basic plan for how we’re creating the show. We’re building a complex story with many characters, and I want viewers to understand who those characters are and what’s at stake going into the next season. It’s important they know why they should keep watching and what questions need answering.

The first season of Off Campus included two romantic storylines: one between Allie Hayes (played by Mika Abdalla) and Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn), and another following Hannah and Garrett.

In a recent interview with Variety, creator Dan Levy explained the choice to introduce the characters Allie and Dean early in the first season. He said it was intentional, as he finds it challenging to make audiences care about a couple if their relationship develops entirely on screen. He wanted viewers to already have a reason to root for them.

Okay, so Allie feels super real because she’s Hannah’s bestie and Dean’s already in the mix. Their romance is a big part of the book, but it’s meant to be a secret. We decided to keep it that way – a total surprise for everyone, even the fans, when the book finally drops! It just felt right to let that reveal happen with the launch.

Due to the schedule and how we’re releasing things, a few adjustments were necessary. However, I can assure you that all the features fans love are still planned and will be included. We have a lot more development ahead for those two aspects.
