Simon Gregson has turned to selling £37 curry night tickets as his financial woes continue.
Simon Gregson, the 51-year-old actor famous for playing Steve McDonald on Coronation Street, is paying back a £250,000 loan he received from his production company.
After closing down his company, Simon Gregson Productions Ltd, in 2023, Simon owed £165,000 to the tax authorities (HMRC) and Coutts bank. He’s been making monthly payments of £1,500 to cover the debt.
Simon will be meeting and talking with fans at an event costing £25 per person, according to The Sun. Presenter Paul Cowland will also be there.
Next month in Derby, Paul Cowland will be hosting a special event featuring Simon Gregson.
Fans can also splash out an extra £12 for a curry and a drink during the meet-and-greet.

Following reports in the Daily Mail, Simon may be forced to sell his house due to financial difficulties.
The Sun reports that the actor has paid back £18,000 over the past year. However, the liquidator has stated that the remaining debt must be settled with the proceeds from selling his property within the next three years.
Simon Gregson Productions Ltd. reported that shutting down the form cost £51,000, even though there was a spending limit of £44,000.
Okay, so I’ve been following this so closely, and the latest update is amazing! Apparently, the people handling the finances – Begbies Taynor, they’re called – just confirmed they got £18,000 paid towards what the directors owed the company. And get this – it’s exactly what they were supposed to pay, as per the agreement they made! It’s a small win, but honestly, it’s huge to me because it means things are actually moving forward… finally!
Because the loan to the company’s directors hasn’t been fully repaid, we couldn’t finish handling this case. As a result, work on it will continue next period.

The actor recently had to deny rumors of a divorce from his wife, Emma Gleave. He explained that a mistake on a legal document caused people to think they had separated.
People initially thought Simon and Emma had separated when court papers mentioning repayment details called Emma his ‘estranged wife’.
The couple claims they don’t understand why the report incorrectly identifies Emma as Simon’s estranged wife.
According to a source who spoke to The Mirror, Simon and Emma are still a couple and haven’t separated. Simon was surprised to see Emma described as his ‘estranged wife’ on some financial documents and doesn’t understand why that information is there.
The actor first joined Coronation Street in December 1989 at the age of 15, quickly becoming well-known to viewers as the mischievous teenager Steve McDonald. Millions of people watched his early storylines on the show.
Simon has previously shared that becoming famous from his role on the soap opera negatively impacted his mental well-being.
In an interview with the YouTube channel DEEP, he talked about how being on the show affected him, sharing that the idea of his own children experiencing the same things deeply bothers him.
He described how both he and his co-star, Nicholas Cochrane, who played his on-screen brother Andy, became instantly famous. He said it was a strange and difficult experience to process at a young age, and that they didn’t receive any guidance or support to help them cope with it.
Simon explained that when actors join the soap opera now, they receive a thorough briefing about what to expect. This includes understanding the potential for media attention, how fans might react, the effect on their families, and the possibility of facing criticism for their character or performance.
He explained that they received no guidance or support, feeling like they were suddenly abandoned at age fifteen and expected to fend for themselves.
