Story Highlights
- ANANTA leaks reveal an advanced dating and tea-time system with affection progression, romance events, and cinematic interactions.
- Multiplayer Mode and Smart Matchmaking System will also be part of ANANTA with an advanced Customisation System.
ANANTA, previously called Project Mugen, is generating a lot of excitement as a promising anime-style open-world game. NetEase Games has shared some information about the immersive city life players can expect, and recent leaks have given us a look at the extensive content planned for the game. Here’s a comprehensive overview of what those leaks and expectations reveal.
ANANTA Leaks Reveal Advanced Dating & Tea Time System
A standout feature from the game’s beta testing is its surprisingly in-depth relationship system.
Multiple Dialogue Choices and Cinematic Presentation
During tea-time in the beta version, you’ll have three different things to say to characters. How they respond – and how much they like you – will depend on what you choose. These conversations aren’t just text on a screen; the game uses special camera angles to make them feel more like a scene from a movie.

VIP Relationship Progression
In ANANTA, building relationships with characters involves a ranking system. The more affection you gain, the more perks you unlock, like special messages, extra conversations, unique events, and exclusive rewards.
The game includes a cooldown period to stop players from quickly earning affection points. After each interaction with a character, you’ll need to wait before you can interact with them again.
Special Encounter Systems
Two particularly interesting systems were reportedly discovered:
- Special interaction states for bosses and major story characters outside combat.
- Dedicated romance-event logic that may trigger unique story scenes.
These clues suggest that how characters interact with each other will be a key part of the game.
Multiplayer Mode and Smart Matchmaking System in ANANTA
Recent leaks suggest that Ananta’s online multiplayer might use separate instances, like dungeons or raids, instead of letting players all share one continuous open world.

ANANTA has several multiplayer modes that were found in the beta:
- Private Room: Invite-only gameplay sessions for friends.
- Team Match: Party formation through automated matchmaking.
Smart Matchmaking System
The game aims to provide fairer and more enjoyable matches by connecting players who have similar devices and are around the same level. Players will also be able to block others they don’t want to play with.
Advanced Customisation System
A significant new leak reveals a highly detailed character customization system in an upcoming open-world anime game.

The game features an 8-Tier Rarity System with cosmetic items ranging from common to incredibly rare, legendary gear. Players have also found a unique ‘GreenGrey’ rarity, and there’s a separate category specifically for items obtained through quests.
You can personalize your character’s appearance with options for makeup, ears and tails, and accessories. Each outfit lets you use up to seven different colors, so you can customize even the smallest details like collars or zippers. Plus, you can choose what parts of your character are visible – for example, you can hide ears when wearing a helmet.
Outfits and Footstep Effects
- Outfits: Outfits are divided into two collection categories: visual sets and functional sets. Visual sets based on themes, brands, and seasons. Functional sets provide hidden buffs and stat bonuses.
- Footstep Effects: Rare cosmetics include unique visual effects while walking, particle effects, light trails, and Aura effects.
Character Abilities in ANANTA
We’ve also learned that each character possesses special skills. Currently, we only know the abilities of two of them.
- Main character: The main character possesses a travel ability similar to Spider-Man-style swinging or aerial movement, allowing fast navigation across Nova City.
- Tuffy: He can summon and ride a personal scooter. Based on the beta leaks, only he has this ability.
This feature would make gameplay much more varied and ensure each character feels distinct while exploring and fighting.
Open World, Game Size, and other details
Recent leaks reveal more about the size of Nova City, the game’s central city. Players might take as long as 24 minutes to drive across the entire map. Leaks indicate that Nova City could be six times bigger than the Neverness to Everness map when the game first releases. If true, this would make Ananta one of the largest open-world anime-style city games currently being made.
A recently discovered settings screenshot suggests the game will offer language support for both spoken dialogue and on-screen text. The image indicates potential voice-over options in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
The revealed design shows a variety of language choices for both the on-screen display and subtitles, such as English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Russian, and Spanish.
The latest leaks reveal possible storage requirements across different platforms.
- PC Size: Roughly 120 GB to 233 GB for high-quality texture packs. Minimum 300GB free disc space needed.
- PlayStation 5 Size: The PS5 version may require around 60 GB to 120 GB after optimisation.
- Mobile Size: Around 50 GB to 70 GB. But 100 GB to 130 GB of free storage may be required for a smooth experience.
When will ANANTA release
The project is now focused on creating a lot of content, while developers continue to improve how the game plays and get ready for future updates. The current plan is to launch between July and September of 2026, starting in China and then releasing worldwide.
Final Thoughts
If the recent information is correct, Ananta has the potential to be a remarkably ambitious open-world game with an anime-inspired style. It seems to be aiming for a huge, ongoing experience – a ‘live service’ game – on all major gaming platforms, offering features like compelling character relationships, massive multiplayer gameplay, unique ways for characters to move around, extensive customization options, and a sprawling city to explore.
Please keep in mind that all details are based on early versions of the game, development data, and reports. Things are likely to change before the final release.
