It’s also the second highest-grossing movie based on a video game ever, trailing only the first Super Mario Bros. film.
The Super Mario Brothers Return
The Super Mario Bros. movies have earned $2 billion and been incredibly successful for Illumination, Nintendo, and Universal, making another sequel likely. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, actor Keegan-Michael Key hinted at a third film, similar to a previous update from Jack Black. This follows the pattern established with the first two movies.
