BREAKING: Tom Hardy reportedly fired from MobLand ahead of season two release

Tom Hardy is no longer expected to return for future seasons of MobLand. Although he finished filming for the second season, reports indicate he won’t be continuing in his role beyond that.

Tom Hardy, the star and producer of the hit crime show, has allegedly been let go by Paramount due to conflicts on set, according to Puck News. Digital Spy has reached out to Paramount, the production company 101 Studios, and representatives for Hardy for a statement.

Puck News said that reps for Paramount and Hardy declined to comment when it reached out.

Sources claim Hardy had disagreements with the show’s producers during the filming of season two. He reportedly arrived late to set and offered unasked-for feedback on the scripts, even suggesting changes to the dialogue.

Some reports suggest Hardy wasn’t happy with the show’s large cast, but this doesn’t automatically mean he had problems with his fellow actors. It’s still unknown how his leaving will impact the upcoming third season.

I heard from Puck News that things were getting pretty tense behind the scenes. Apparently, Jez Butterworth, one of the producers, was even thinking about leaving before Tom Hardy decided to move on.

According to a source at Digital Spy, a coworker of Hardy on another project described him as challenging for creative teams to collaborate with.

Created and co-written by Ronan Bennett, the series stars Tom Hardy as Harry De Souza, a man who handles problems for the powerful Harrigan crime family. When conflict threatens, Harry’s job is to safeguard the family’s business and stop a major gang war from breaking out.

The show’s second season, confirmed in June 2025, will broaden the story’s focus. Hardy has hinted that future episodes will delve deeper into the international aspects of organized crime.

He explained the series will cover the trafficking of various illegal goods across Europe, including drugs, weapons, and people, originating from regions like Africa, South America, and Pakistan. It will also depict the movement of other illicit commodities throughout the continent.

He explained that powerful families in every European country are competing to control the movement of goods, and questions remain about who oversees this activity and how it impacts global affairs.

Critics generally like the new crime drama, starring Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. Currently, 76% of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are positive for its first season.

According to The Boston Globe, even if MobLand is simply a well-made gangster story, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, and the film shows potential for being more than that. London Evening Standard enthusiastically called it a “hilarious ride.”
