Eleanor Tomlinson, known for her roles in Poldark and The Forsytes, will star in a new, suspenseful drama called The Fortune. The series follows Amanda Blakefield, played by Tomlinson, whose life is turned upside down when she receives a surprising inheritance. Featuring Denis Lawson (from Midsomer Murders) and a strong supporting cast, The Fortune is set to premiere soon.
Channel 5 is calling this new series a “gripping” thriller. It starts on Tuesday, June 2nd at 9pm, and the second episode will be shown the next day at the same time. The last two episodes will air the following week, on Tuesday, June 9th and Wednesday, June 10th.
Amanda’s life is turned upside down when she unexpectedly receives a large inheritance from a complete stranger. The synopsis reveals she’s never met or even heard of this man before, and the news impacts her life with her husband, Jimmy (Matthew Lewis), and son, Luke (James Younger).
Things really start falling apart for me as I get pulled into the drama surrounding The Worrall Family. The head of the family, Martin Worrall, is played by Lawson, and let me tell you, he’s a powerful guy – things get intense fast!
The story ends with Amanda becoming increasingly entangled in the past, which dramatically changes everything for everyone involved.

Picking up several months after the intense events of season one – where Jolyon Jr. left his family to be with his former love, Louisa – the new season will also explore the complicated dynamic between the controlling Soames and his wife, Irene.
The Fortune starts airing on 5 on 2 June at 9pm.
