Starting next month, Netflix will begin a daily live podcast, and its first offering will be a livestream of the classic film, “The Breakfast Club.”
Netflix is continuing to invest in live shows, and as part of that, they’re launching a new video podcast with iHeartRadio. The show, which lasts almost three hours, will be streamed live on Netflix every weekday morning.
According to iHeartMedia’s CEO Bob Pittman, broadcasting this show live daily to a worldwide audience on Netflix demonstrates how they’re broadening the impact of their most popular brands and offering viewers fresh ways to connect with them. He explained that the live format allows conversations to happen in real-time, reaching people whether it’s morning in New York or afternoon in London.

Spotify launched its Sycamore podcast studios earlier this year as a central hub for The Ringer, its podcast network. Both creators and company leaders report that the new studio is improving the quality of content and streamlining collaboration among The Ringer’s many podcasts.
As a total movie fan, I’m excited to hear “The Breakfast Club” is getting a wider release! It’s hitting Netflix, which is awesome, and you’ll also be able to catch it on the iHeartRadio app. Plus, it’s still playing on a ton of radio stations across the country. What’s really cool is how they’re handling the commercial breaks. On Netflix, you won’t have to stop the movie – instead of ads, they’re adding extra behind-the-scenes stuff and longer conversations. So, it’s a more complete experience than what you’d get on traditional radio, where you’d still have those breaks.
I’ve always been impressed by how ‘The Breakfast Club’ has stayed relevant, and Charlamagne tha God really hit the nail on the head when he explained why. He said that in a world where media is constantly changing, live programming is what truly connects with people. That’s exactly what they’ve built with the show – a genuine, real-time conversation and a community that reaches all over the world. He’s so confident about the future, and honestly, he says the vision he and Netflix have for the show is incredibly clear, and I believe him. It’s exciting to see what they’re building!

Brian Williams, the well-known former news anchor, will be hosting a new show called “We’re Back! With Brian Williams” beginning later this year.
The popular morning radio show began in 2010 on WWPR-FM in New York City. Built around Hip-Hop and R&B, it’s become well-known for its energetic interviews and the fun perspectives of hosts Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Jess Hilarious. The show has featured high-profile guests, including former President Barack Obama, as well as music stars like Kendrick Lamar and Cardi B. In 2020, it was recognized with induction into the Radio Hall of Fame.
Netflix has been putting a lot of money into live events lately, including sports, comedy specials, and podcasts. Just last month, they livestreamed Kevin Hart’s roast and a fight between Rhonda Rousey and Gina Carano. This weekend, you can watch the Canadian Grand Prix on Netflix too. These big events add to their regular weekly live shows, like “The Bill Simmons Podcast” which airs every Sunday.
