Michael B. Jordan is enjoying a fantastic 2026. He recently won his first Oscar for his role in Sinners at the 97th Academy Awards in March. To build on that success, Netflix quickly released a new film starring him just a few months later.

The animated fantasy film, Swapped, premiered on Netflix on May 1st. Jordan provides the voice for one of the main characters, and the movie is directed by Nathan Greno, who also directed Tangled. Swapped Could Become A Top 3 Most-Watched Netflix Movie

As a movie buff, I’ve been keeping an eye on how Swapped is doing on Netflix, and while 80.6 million views after a couple of weeks might not seem huge, it’s actually performing really well. It’s a fifth of the way to the total views of KPop Demon Hunters, but it’s already halfway to making Netflix’s top 10 most-watched movies list! If it can just double its viewership over the next couple of months, it could easily break into the top 5 all-time. I’m definitely rooting for it!

However, there’s also a possibility it could perform even better, potentially reaching 210.3 million views. If it does, Jordan’s film could climb into Netflix’s top 3 most popular titles.

Even if Swapped doesn’t become a massive hit, it can still reach its initial goal with around 173 million views. To really succeed, it will need positive buzz and stay popular for the next ten weeks, which seems achievable given its current performance.

Why Swapped’s Viewership On Netflix Has Been So Good

The new film Swapped is quickly becoming popular with viewers, suggesting they’re really enjoying the story. Although reviews from critics have been somewhat negative (with ScreenRant giving it a low score of 3 out of 10), audiences are responding very positively. Currently, it has an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter, much higher than the 67% score from critics.

One of the biggest reasons why Swapped is attracting viewers is the current animation scene. Netflix doesn’t have any other big, new animated movies competing for attention right now. Plus, with school letting out for many kids this month, they’ll have even more free time to watch and re-watch this family-friendly film.

Swapped has been able to effortlessly sweep in and fill the void of fresh animated movies for families to watch. It’s been well over a month since The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hit theaters, and there’s not another major animated release until Toy Story 5 on June 19. And with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Hoppers still not on streaming, its competition is more limited; Sony’s GOAT (which came to Netflix on May 14) is its only real threat.

With such a talented voice cast, it’s no wonder Swapped is performing so well. Now, the big question is just how popular it will become on Netflix and how high it will climb in the streaming charts over the coming months.
