Composer Ludwig Göransson has released an update on the soundtrack for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey. This is Göransson’s third time working with Nolan, following his successful scores for Tenet and Oppenheimer.
Matt Damon will star in the new movie as Odysseus. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and Benny Safdie.
What Ludwig Göransson said about The Odyssey
During an interview on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Göransson, speaking from his Los Angeles studio, was asked if he had any current projects. The Oscar-winning composer responded that he was indeed working on “new projects.”
Poehler wondered if he could share details about his current project or if he needed to keep it under wraps. Göransson replied that he was currently composing the soundtrack for Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey. He explained that working on such a large-scale movie was consuming his time, but he was enjoying the process.
I was thrilled to hear Matt Damon on Fallon recently talking about The Odyssey! He said it’s going to be the high point of his whole career, which is a big statement considering his incredible work. And knowing this is his third film with Christopher Nolan – after Interstellar and Oppenheimer – it makes total sense why he’s so excited. He genuinely seemed to have loved every single moment of filming, and honestly, that enthusiasm is infectious!
Damon also talked about the making of the film, describing it as a very ambitious undertaking. He explained that everyone involved had to work incredibly hard, leaving no time for anything else. He said it was the most demanding movie he’d ever been a part of, requiring the absolute maximum effort from the entire cast and crew.
Damon remembered telling Ben Affleck, who was also a guest on the show, that every filming location and every day of work on the movie was more challenging than anything he’d experienced in his entire career.
Christopher Nolan’s new movie, The Odyssey, based on Homer’s classic story, will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026. Nolan also wrote the film’s script.
