Xbox Game Pass Officially Getting One Of The Greatest JRPGs Ever Made

Xbox Game Pass is adding several new games throughout May. This includes games available on release day, popular titles, and even a highly-rated classic Japanese role-playing game coming in under two weeks.

Xbox recently announced its next set of games coming in late May and early June. Highlights include day-one releases like Crashout Crew and Kabuto Park. On June 2nd, players will get Jurassic World Evolution 3 on various Game Pass subscriptions, along with a highly recommended JRPG that you won’t want to miss.

Final Fantasy 6 Remains Absolutely Iconic

On June 2, 2026, Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster will be added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass. This continues a pattern of releasing a Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster each month, bringing one of the first six games to Game Pass subscribers.

This version of the game has faced some criticism, particularly regarding its initial font, but it includes many helpful improvements over older releases. Compared to the SNES version (known as Final Fantasy 3 in the US) or the PS1 version in Final Fantasy Anthology – which suffered from glitches and slow loading – these changes make this Pixel Remaster of FF6 a worthwhile experience. However, even beyond the improvements, this RPG is simply fantastic and deserves to be played.

You Owe It To Yourself To Play This JRPG

As a huge Final Fantasy fan, I have to say that FF6 is seriously one of the best in the series. If you haven’t played it, you absolutely need to! The characters are fantastic, and Kefka is just an amazing villain – truly one of the most memorable in all of Final Fantasy. You’ve also got other great characters like Ultros and unforgettable moments like the train suplex. Plus, the battle system with the ATB, the combat itself, and collecting and using Espers make every fight so much fun and stand out in my memory.

Final Fantasy VI tells a grand, sweeping story and features a massive plot twist that remains one of the most memorable in the entire Final Fantasy series. If it becomes available on Xbox Game Pass, it’s a must-play, particularly for those who haven’t experienced it yet. It’s a genuinely amazing game.
