Story Highlights

  • Where Winds Meet is cracking down on black market trading, unofficial top ups, and fraudulent gift scams.
  • Players involved in malicious chargebacks or unofficial transactions may now face long term or permanent bans.
  • The devs will recover illegally obtained items and introduce new Gift System security upgrades soon.

NetEase Games is taking strong action against cheating and scams in their game, Where Winds Meet. They’re rolling out a new security update to protect players from things like fake discounts on gifts, unauthorized purchases, and fraudulent trades. This update will improve the gifting system and account recovery process, among other things.

Accounts linked to black market scams may now face strict penalties and legal action

The team has found that some players are being scammed by unofficial sellers offering low-priced gifts or discounts in person. These players then lose the items when the system flags the transactions as fraudulent. This has also been a problem in games like Mobile Legends.

We’ve noticed some players are using unfair methods, like offering suspiciously cheap items, to trick others into unofficial trades and then scam them. We’re taking action to stop this and recover any illegally obtained items. We want to remind everyone that trading outside of the official channels is against the rules and can lead to penalties.

To fix this problem, the developers are increasing penalties for rule-breakers, adding ways to recover lost items, and improving the security of the gifting system. They’ve also stated that accounts involved in fraudulent chargebacks, unauthorized trading, or scams will receive serious consequences, including long-term or permanent bans, and could even face legal charges.

Gift System is getting a new security upgrade, and they’re recovering illegally obtained items

In addition to penalties, developers will reclaim items acquired through fraudulent methods by reversing gifts with problematic chargebacks. If an item has already been used, the game will instead take an equal amount of Echo Beads from your account. Similar to other games, this could result in a negative balance, temporarily limiting access to some features and game modes.

To help prevent cheating and other unauthorized activity, the game developers are adding a security update to the Gift System. This includes a delay between when you add a friend and when you can send them a gift. Also, please only purchase in-game items through official channels, as the game does not authorize any third-party platforms offering top-ups or discounts. This will protect your account and the progress you’ve made.
