Herman Miller’s First Standing Desk for Gamers Is Here

Summary

  • Features a precision rotary dial for height adjustments that allows for granular tuning to a 10th of an inch, providing tactile feedback similar to high-end audio equipment or gaming mice
  • Includes a signature red coiled power cable designed to stay taut and orderly as the desk raises or lowers, preventing the cable clutter typically associated with sit-to-stand setups
  • Equipped with an extra-wide cable management trough accessible through a fold-down felt cover, allowing users to organize power strips and peripheral wires from the front without moving the desk

Herman Miller Gaming just launched the Coyl, its first standing desk created specifically for gamers. While Herman Miller previously offered the Motia as a gaming option, the Coyl is a completely new design developed in-house. It’s built with both looks and practicality in mind, recognizing that gamers spend many hours at their setups. The desk combines high-quality furniture design with technology tailored for dedicated players. It was designed from the ground up with gamers’ needs in mind.

This desk is designed to improve your workspace with unique features like a height adjustment dial and a special power cord called “The Coil” that keeps things tidy. It includes built-in hooks for headphones and an optional pegboard for organizing controllers, plants, and other items. Unlike many standing desks, this one cleverly hides cords, solving the problem of messy cables. The height dial feels solid and precise, similar to the controls on high-end audio equipment and gaming mice.

This desk starts at $1,095, with prices increasing to $1,495 for a version with improved cable management and $1,635 for the fully equipped model including a back panel. The desktop, available in black, white, walnut, and ash finishes, has rounded edges. The desk’s frame comes with a 12-year warranty, while mechanical and electrical parts are covered for 7 and 5 years, respectively. This desk offers a more polished look than heavy-duty magnetic or modular rail systems – like those from Secretlab or the older Corsair Platform:6 – providing a sophisticated and functional upgrade for any space.
