LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a huge, open-world game packed with tons of things to collect and challenges to complete. If you’re aiming to unlock everything, there’s even more hidden within each level! You’ll find Red Bricks, different Batsuits, Skill Bricks, Riddler Puzzles, and many other collectibles. While you’ll discover some of these items just by playing the story, there are also ways to make getting 100% completion a bit easier.
Like other LEGO games, fully completing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight relies on collecting studs (the game’s currency) and finding hidden items. This game has a lot to find, including radio towers, SubWayne tunnels, WayneTech Caches, Red Bricks, Batcave Trophies, escaped zoo animals, and Batman coins – and that’s not even a complete list! If you want to unlock everything, here are some helpful tips and tricks.
10. Save Most Collectibles Until After The Main Story
Like most LEGO games, collecting everything in this game is best done after you finish the main story. There are tons of hidden items and challenges scattered throughout Gotham City, and while you can grab a few as you play, it’s more efficient to focus on completing them all once you’ve finished the story.
Things get much simpler once you finish the main story. You’ll be able to improve your character, making battles less challenging, and you’ll unlock every character in Legacy of the Dark Knight along with all their unique skills, letting you tackle any puzzle. You should also have discovered all the SubWayne tunnels for quick travel and the radio towers to find every collectible – we’ll cover those in more detail shortly.
9. Check Challenges In The Batcave
Inside the Batcave, there’s a hidden feature that’s easy to miss. Near the entrance, you’ll find a mural you unlock by completing various challenges. To fully complete LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you need to finish every challenge. But, if you’re just aiming for the related trophy or achievement, completing 20 challenges is enough.
Keep an eye on the challenges throughout the game – they guide you on what to do next. Completing them, particularly combat challenges, will make progressing through levels much easier. Plus, you’ll earn LEGO studs as rewards for finishing each challenge, which are really helpful for unlocking trophies or achievements related to purchases, like new suits from Bat-mite or different Batmobiles in the Batcave.
8. Look For Stud Caches As You Travel Through Gotham City
In LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you can find two kinds of treasure chests. WayneTech Caches help you upgrade gadgets and unlock achievements. Stud Caches, on the other hand, give you lots of studs quickly. These aren’t marked on the map, but will appear on-screen when you use a detection ability.
The easiest way to locate these is to actively scan for them while moving around Gotham – whether you’re gliding, grappling, or driving. Look for symbols similar to WayneTech caches, but without the “W”. While it’s not essential to go out of your way to find them, they’re common enough that it’s worth being observant during your regular travels. A bonus is that, unlike WayneTech caches, these don’t require you to solve any puzzles – you can simply open them right away.
7. Always Be Listening
Playing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight with the sound on is highly recommended, and will actually help you finish the game completely faster. Characters will give you clues when you’re close to hidden collectibles within levels – even a simple ‘I see something!’ can point you in the right direction. They’ll also offer hints for finding Batcave Trophies, escaped zoo animals, and other collectibles both inside levels and while exploring the game’s open areas.
Throughout the levels and around Gotham City, you’ll find WayneTech Caches that will beep louder as you get closer. This is especially useful inside levels, where you can’t see their locations on the map. Pay attention to the beeping – it’s a helpful guide! Also, Batman will occasionally give you hints, telling you when you need help from another character or when you’re near important clues.
6. Find Wind Tunnels & Use Them
A challenging achievement in Legacy of the Dark Knight requires finding and using 10 different wind tunnels scattered throughout Gotham City. These tunnels are often hard to reach, requiring skillful use of the grapple and finding hidden vents to gain altitude. Interestingly, it’s entirely possible to complete the game without ever encountering them.
That’s why it’s important to actively search for wind tunnels and use them. If you don’t, you’ll spend too much time looking instead of steadily making progress. These tunnels aren’t marked on your map or tracked like other collectibles, and you need to find different tunnels each time, so don’t just reuse the same ones.
5. Respond To Random Crimes
Something’s going on in Gotham! You’ll frequently hear updates from the police – about every 30 to 60 seconds – as you explore the city. These announcements might seem unimportant, as they don’t directly lead to collectibles shown on the map. However, responding to these calls for help is required to unlock two trophies/achievements, and ignoring them will make earning those rewards take much longer.
To earn both achievements, you first need to successfully stop 30 crimes. Then, you must respond to each type of crime at least once. Since the crimes happen randomly, completing the second part can take a while. While you can focus on the first achievement near the end of the game, it’s more efficient to work on both throughout the story. If you do, the achievements should unlock automatically.
4. Unlock SubWayne Tunnels For Fast Travel
Throughout Gotham City, you’ll find hidden SubWayne entrances in each district. To open them and quickly travel to different areas, you’ll need to solve puzzles or complete challenges. These can range from simple fights to more complex brainteasers – the one in Cauldron South, for instance, required some real thought.
Exploring all the SubWayne entrances throughout Gotham City is highly recommended – it’ll significantly speed up your travel and make getting around much easier. Plus, you’ll earn a trophy or achievement for finding them all! You can start collecting them fairly early in the game, but you’ll need to unlock certain characters to access every single one, so keep that in mind and dedicate some time to the task.
3. Check Collectibles At The Start Of Each Level
Most levels include five collectibles to earn a Batcave Trophy, five WayneTech Caches, and one Red Brick. The Red Bricks and WayneTech Caches always look the same, but the items you collect for the Batcave Trophy are different in each level – they could be anything from birthday cakes to plants. For instance, in the Iceberg Lounge level, you’ll find a Red Brick, five Disco Balls to smash, and five WayneTech Caches.
Start each level by pausing the game. The pause menu tells you everything you can collect, so you’ll know what to look for right away. Some levels only have certain collectibles – like trophies, Red Bricks, or WayneTech caches – and knowing this helps you avoid wasting time searching for items that aren’t present.
2. Access Radio Towers With Batgirl
You’ll get to play as Batgirl in Chapter 4 of the story. She can hack computers, which is a really useful ability. This lets you activate radio towers all over Gotham City. You’ll usually find these towers near the entrance to SubWayne in each area. If you’re struggling to find them, climb to a high point and scan the area – they’re tall and have flashing lights, so they’re easy to spot.
Use Batgirl to connect to the radio tower’s system. This will show you the location of every collectible and challenge in that area of Gotham City. It’s a huge help if you’re trying to fully complete the game, as you can mark each item on your map to find it easily. If you want to get 100%, unlock this early – it’s one of the most useful upgrades!
1. Unlock Stud Upgrades First
Getting 100% completion in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight relies heavily on collecting enough studs to buy everything the game offers. While finding the radio towers is important, having studs is even more crucial. You’ll need them to purchase new Batsuits and costumes from Bat-mite, buy vehicles in the Batcave, and acquire decorations and expansions for the Batcave – unlocking all expansions even earns you a trophy or achievement!
As a big LEGO Batman fan, let me tell you, getting those stud upgrades early is key. Seriously, focus on the ones that directly affect how you collect and keep studs. Some make your stud multiplier bigger, others fill up your stud bar faster, and a few even slow down how quickly it empties. There are even upgrades that give you extra studs when you pull off cool combat moves! Why bother with these first? Because so many of the trophies and achievements in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight rely on collecting studs, so boosting your stud collection will make everything way easier and faster!
