Sony Pictures Television now owns a majority stake in the production company that makes popular reality shows like “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Vanderpump Rules.”
The studio behind “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” in Culver City announced today it has acquired a majority ownership in 32 Flavors, a production company founded by Alex Baskin three years ago. Baskin’s company is growing beyond its popular Bravo TV shows and is now creating podcasts and documentaries as well.
NBCUniversal will retain ownership of its programs, such as “Real Housewives” and “The Valley,” including its spin-off, “The Valley: Persian Style.” Andy Baskin will continue to oversee his shows on Bravo as an executive producer and will remain the head of his production company.
Sony declined to disclose deal terms.

As a huge Bravo fan, I was fascinated to hear Alex Baskin, the executive producer of “Vanderpump Rules,” talk about Season 10 and, of course, all the drama of “Scandoval.” He’s given us a little preview of what’s coming in Season 11, which kicks off this Tuesday, and honestly, I’m already hooked!
The production of both “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Real Housewives of Orange County” is handled by Baskin’s company.
According to Baskin, 32 Flavors has been growing quickly, and they anticipate even faster growth with Sony’s backing.
Sony already has a strong presence in the reality TV world, owning several nonfiction production companies like Sharp Entertainment, Embassy Row, Brass Monkeys Media, and 19 Entertainment—the company famous for creating “American Idol.” They also own the rights to popular shows like “Shark Tank” and “90 Day Fiancé,” and are developing a TV series based on the board game Clue.

Sony Pictures Entertainment, now led by CEO Ravi Ahuja, is focusing more on established franchises and creating new, innovative content. As part of this shift, the company will be reducing its workforce by several hundred positions across its film, television, and corporate teams.
According to Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, the company sees growing potential in high-quality nonfiction content. She stated that acquiring 32 Flavors will help them create compelling formats that resonate with both viewers and international buyers.

Ex-NFL player thought ‘Shark Tank’ would launch his barbecue empire. It became a nightmare, he says
Al “Bubba” Baker, a restaurant owner and former contestant on the show Shark Tank, says Daymond John, one of the show’s investors, treated him unfairly.
Earlier this spring, Pope took charge of Sony’s unscripted television division following a company reorganization and significant staff reductions. These cuts, impacting hundreds of employees within Sony’s entertainment sector, were announced as part of a broader strategic shift under the leadership of Sony Pictures CEO Ravi Ahuja.
