Anderson Cooper has signed off from “60 Minutes” for the last time.
After twenty years as a reporter for CBS’s news program, he finished his last broadcast on Sunday night.
Anderson Cooper, a CNN news host, said in February that he would be leaving CBS. This decision came several months after CBS experienced internal changes following the appointment of Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief.
Anderson believes that while ’60 Minutes’ should continue to adapt and improve, it’s essential to preserve its fundamental principles, particularly its independence. He finds this ability to evolve positive, but emphasizes maintaining the show’s core identity.
During his goodbye segment, the 58-year-old journalist, who joined the team in 2007, shared some memorable moments from his career. He talked about powerful interviews with Holocaust survivors and people facing severe hunger in Niger, alongside chats with celebrities like Lady Gaga and Prince Harry. He expressed his hope that the show will continue to deliver strong, investigative reporting.

Major changes are coming to two TV news organizations as they combine under new ownership, and these changes are complicated by potential job losses and pressure to satisfy Donald Trump.
The strong relationship ’60 Minutes’ has with its audience is essential to its continued success. When a story resonates with viewers, it’s because of the significant time, effort, and resources invested in its production. He expressed hope that this dedication to quality is recognized and maintained going forward.
Things are really shifting over at CBS right now, and the timing of this exit is… unusual, to say the least. It’s a period of big changes for the network. Just last year, David Ellison of Skydance Media finalized a merger with Paramount – CBS’s parent company. And not long after that, Ellison brought in Bari Weiss to lead CBS News. It feels like a lot is happening all at once, and this departure just adds another layer to that.
Just two months into his new job, CBS head George Weiss made a controversial decision to cancel a “60 Minutes” report investigating claims of abuse against people the U.S. had deported to a prison in El Salvador. This choice drew strong criticism and accusations that it was influenced by politics, though CBS maintains it was not.

I was surprised to hear that the CNN anchor is stepping down from ’60 Minutes,’ but honestly, I completely understand. He wants to spend more quality time with his kids while also giving his full attention to his work at CNN. Family comes first, and it’s great to see him prioritizing that.
Cooper announced he’s stepping down from his current role to focus on his young family. He will continue working at CNN as an anchor.
He expressed his wish that ’60 Minutes’ would still be on television for future generations, so his children and grandchildren could enjoy watching it together.
