Netflix’s Mystery Stranger Things Spinoff Gets Cautious Update From Creators

This show is one of Netflix’s most popular original series ever. While the first series has finished and its creators have moved on, the story isn’t over – the franchise is continuing with new content.

This year saw the Stranger Things universe grow with its first animated series, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. While the original actors don’t return for this new show, it does include the same characters and some familiar faces. In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz of Happy Sad Confused, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, offered a careful update on the Stranger Things spin-off.

The Stranger Things Spinoff Is Kept Under Wraps

The pair is releasing most of their remaining shows on Netflix before moving to Paramount. This includes several series they created. However, they also have another Stranger Things spin-off planned.

The co-creator explained they couldn’t discuss the spinoff, admitting there was a lot he wanted to share. He’s known for accidentally revealing information in the past, and he’s determined not to repeat that mistake this time.

I’m really impressed with how much thought and care they’re putting into this. It’s clear they’re not willing to compromise and want to make sure everything is absolutely perfect before sharing it with the world. They’re taking their time, and I truly appreciate that dedication to quality.

Asked if the planned spinoff series had already chosen its showrunners, Matt initially hesitated, then simply said, “I’m not sure, possibly.”

I’m really feeling optimistic about things moving forward, and it seems like it’s actually going to happen. But we’re being super careful not to rush anything. Honestly, nobody wants to just make something for the sake of it, or just keep Stranger Things going because we feel like we have to. It absolutely has to be incredible, or we’re scrapping it. That’s how everyone feels – it needs to be truly special.

The team didn’t say if the show would be called Stranger Things, but playfully suggested they should cast Billy Crudup. They also confirmed their preference for Crudup in the role.

The Boroughs Is the Perfect Stranger Things Replacement

Although official information is still limited, the team behind the hit show Stranger Things is back with a new Netflix series called The Boroughs, premiering on May 21st. It’s being described as a more mature version of Stranger Things.

The popular sci-fi show centered on friends discovering a hidden dimension and a widespread conspiracy. The new Netflix release takes a similar idea, but focuses on residents of a retirement home who realize something isn’t right.

I just finished watching a surprisingly thrilling film set in The Boroughs, a retirement community that looks idyllic on the surface but hides a terrifying secret. The story centers around Sam Cooper, a new resident who quickly feels stifled by the rigid environment. Things take a dark turn when he witnesses something truly frightening one night, and no one believes him. It’s fascinating to watch Sam team up with a group of fellow outcasts – a former journalist, a woman searching for meaning, a jaded music manager, and a doctor desperate for answers. They’re all dismissed by those in charge, but they’re determined to uncover the truth behind the strange happenings at The Boroughs, even if it means risking everything. It’s a clever, suspenseful film that really plays with expectations, and I was rooting for these unlikely heroes every step of the way.

Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.
