Katie Holmes recently shared details about her everyday morning makeup routine, along with some honest and simple advice.

On Saturday, the 47-year-old actress shared a video on Instagram showing her morning routine.

Holmes looked relaxed and natural, wearing a white terrycloth robe with her hair tied back. She was putting on makeup – concealer, foundation, blush, lip liner, and lip gloss.

‘In daily life, I do very minimal makeup because I don’t feel that confident in my ability to put on makeup,’ she explained. ‘Also, I’m a 90s kid. That was cool back then, and I guess I still think it’s the 90s.

My makeup artist, Genevieve, is still teaching me how to use blush, which is funny because I’m over 40 and still learning new things! She has a great tip: just dab a tiny bit on the nose, like a sprinkle of salt when you’re cooking, and blend it back.

The actress from ‘The Secret’ recently thanked her ‘Our Town’ co-stars, Zoey Deutch and Michelle Wilson, for helping with her eyebrows. This comes as reports circulate that her ex-partner, Jamie Foxx, 58, is expecting a child with his girlfriend, Alice Huckstepp, 31.

While performing in ‘Our Town,’ I’d always ask the cast and crew how my eyebrows looked each night. I usually only had one performance where they actually looked good,” Holmes explained.

At times, Holmes’ self-deprecating humor showed through.

‘I’m realizing that I’m talking to myself, which is pretty normal,’ she admitted.

The conversation continued with the Ohio native sharing her experiences of living in New York City, which she now calls home.

She shared that she’s lived in New York City, with some time away, since 2012, and considers it the best place to be. She spent the winter in San Diego, which she appreciated because New York winters can be tough.

You know, yesterday I was just walking along and I spotted this incredible rosebush covered in buds. It was such a lovely sight – honestly, it reminded me of a sherbet ice cream cone! It was so vivid, that when I woke up this morning, I found myself reaching for my pink sweater. It felt like a completely natural thing to do, almost like I’d been dreaming about those roses!

While putting on her lip gloss, she realized the color was called ‘Rose.’ She thought to herself, ‘I didn’t even think to look for a rose shade, but that would have been perfect!’

Holmes remembered wearing a darker lipstick to her prom, then the trend shifted to nude shades. Now, darker colors are popular again, and she realized it’s interesting to see how fashion trends come and go in cycles throughout your life.

She explained that the lip gloss fit with the overall color scheme, saying, ‘They all coordinate well, which makes it easy to feel like you’ve got it right,’ as she showed it off.

‘And I feel really, you know, ready,’ she concluded.
