Netflix’s 4-Part ‘Blade Meets Dragon Ball Z’ Series Has A Surprisingly A-List Cast

This fantastic show, available on Netflix, features a great cast and cleverly combines the best parts of Dragon Ball Z and Blade. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a new Blade movie, and despite rumors of a reboot, its development is currently uncertain.

Even though it’s facing delays, the original Blade movies from the early 2000s are still popular because they perfectly blended action, scary creatures, and cool vampire hunters. While a new Blade film doesn’t seem likely to come out soon, Netflix’s Castlevania offers a similar experience with its dark setting and focus on vampire mythology.

Honestly, as Castlevania went on, those huge battles started giving me serious Dragon Ball Z vibes – it really ramps up the power levels! And it’s already a fantastic show, but what really sets it apart and puts it among the best animated series out there today is the incredible voice acting. The cast is just phenomenal.

Castlevania’s Cast Is Worthy Of A Blockbuster Movie

The voice cast of Castlevania is headed by Richard Armitage, known for his role as Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit films. He perfectly embodies Trevor Belmont’s world-weariness and increasing negativity through his strong voice performance. Alejandra Reynoso, who previously worked on Winx Club, voices Sypha Belnades, bringing a warm and charming quality to the character that makes her immediately appealing.

James Callis, famous for his work in shows like Battlestar Galactica and Slow Horses, as well as the Bridget Jones films, gives a fantastic performance as the voice of Alucard, Dracula’s dhampir son. Graham McTavish, known for his roles in fantasy series such as House of the Dragon, Outlander, and Spartacus, voices the story’s main antagonist, Vlad Dracula Țepeș.

The show boasts a stellar cast, including well-known actors like Jaime Murray, Theo James, Yasmine Al Massri, Emily Swallow, Jessica Brown Findlay, Lance Riddick, and Bill Nighy. Beyond the cast, the show is captivating thanks to its rich backstory, unique animation style, and exciting action sequences, making it consistently engaging.

The show doesn’t shy away from intense violence and gore, which makes its darker themes feel incredibly real and impactful. But what truly sets it apart from other animated adaptations of video games is its exceptionally talented cast.

Throughout its four seasons, Castlevania on Netflix is consistently exciting, offering both intense action sequences featuring supernatural battles and deeply moving character development.

How Castlevania Became One Of Netflix’s Best Action Franchises

The animation studio Powerhouse, known for Castlevania, created a unique look for the show. It blends the smooth, flowing movement often seen in anime with the darker, more dramatic style of Western fantasy. Action scenes, like the intense battle of Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard through Dracula’s castle in Season 2, are particularly striking, combining realistic gore with magical effects – a rare and memorable combination in supernatural television.

The characters in Castlevania are surprisingly complex. Even villains like Dracula aren’t simply evil; the show portrays him as a tragic figure driven to revenge by immense grief and a sense of betrayal.

Rather than dragging out the story, the Castlevania series smartly continued with Castlevania: Nocturne on Netflix. This new installment moved the story forward by setting it during the French Revolution and centering on the character Richter Belmont.

Many believe Castlevania helped Netflix create successful adaptations like Arcane, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Devil May Cry. These series are now considered some of the best action shows available on the platform.
