After five seasons, the legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer, inspired by Michael Connelly’s novels, will conclude its run on Netflix.
The popular series, from creators Ted Humphrey and David E. Kelley, features Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, a confident lawyer who defends challenging cases and clients in Los Angeles.
After four seasons and 40 episodes, with the most recent airing in February, the streaming service has announced that the upcoming season will be Mickey’s last. The final story will involve a new case that also brings up details about his family’s past.

The fifth season of the show begins with a surprise: Mickey learns he has a half-sister named Emi, who asks for his help to prove a woman was wrongly convicted (according to Tudum).
This season focuses on family connections and long-hidden truths as Mickey fights to free someone convicted of murder six years ago. But as he investigates, he uncovers powerful and dangerous enemies who will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried.
What to Read Next
Mickey is committed to fixing a terrible wrong. However, as he investigates a network of deceit and corruption, he’s forced to confront the complicated history of his two families: the one he created and the one he never knew existed.
Gabriel Garcia-Rulfo will be back, along with Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson, all returning to their previous roles. Joining the cast this season is Cobie Smulders, known for her work in the Marvel universe, playing a new character named Emi.
After the news was released, the show’s creators, Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, released a statement saying, “Everything has to end eventually, but we’re glad we had some control over how this ended.”

As a big fan, I was so happy to hear the creators say they always intended to give Mickey Haller and the whole crew a real ending. It’s a little sad it’s coming to a close, but it’s good to know they weren’t just leaving things hanging – they wanted to give the story the conclusion it deserved. It feels bittersweet, honestly!
However, they also mentioned that the final season was a great chance to wrap up the story and potentially set up new storylines for some of the characters.
This legal drama, which first aired in 2022, has been highly praised by critics. Rotten Tomatoes gives it an overall approval rating of 92%. Seasons three and four have received perfect scores of 100%, and the first two seasons earned ratings of 80% and 91%.
