Hender Scheme Collaborates With NOTA&design to Reimagine Every Objects

Hender Scheme, a Japanese shoe and accessories maker, has partnered with the ceramic studio NOTA&design from Shigaraki to create a small collection that highlights the different textures of leather and ceramic.

This collection reimagines common household items by combining unexpected materials: Hender Scheme’s classic vegetable-tanned leather and NOTA’s rustic, unglazed yakishime pottery. The pottery, left raw without a glaze, shares a similar natural, matte feel with the untreated leather. Both materials are designed to develop a rich, unique character with regular use, changing beautifully over time.

This collection features seven items for the home, including cups, plates, bowls, a clock, and a wall-mounted pot. A key part of the project involved reimagining these items using different materials – for example, Hender Scheme recreated NOTA’s popular ceramic wall pot with leather, turning a container for plants into a soft, adaptable wall organizer.

The collection also includes coordinating coasters made from both ceramic and leather, carefully designed to be the same thickness and feature both brand logos. Because of the special firing process called yakishime, each ceramic piece has a one-of-a-kind finish, with subtle differences in color and texture.

The collection will be available on May 16, 2026, at Skima stores throughout Japan and online. To celebrate the launch, an exhibition showcasing the collection’s creative process will be held at NOTA SHOP from June 13th to July 12th, 2026.
