Drake’s approach to releasing his 2025 album, ICEMAN, isn’t typical marketing. Instead of a standard campaign, he’s creating a sprawling, cinematic experience. After releasing the R&B project $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PARTYNEXTDOOR and taking it on tour in Europe, Drake is now focusing on a carefully planned solo comeback. He’s combining ambitious livestream events with concerts around the world and collaborations with major brands, essentially turning the release of his ninth album into a year-long cultural moment.
Phase I: The Summer Thaw
The launch of this new phase began over the Fourth of July with the first livestream, “ICEMAN Episode 1.” Drake kicked things off by driving a branded ice truck around Toronto and then unveiled his new single, “What Did I Miss?” He continued building excitement with a three-night performance at Wireless Festival in London from July 11th to 13th, making the UK a key location for the release. On July 25th, “ICEMAN Episode 2” dropped, featuring the song “Which One” with Central Cee, and further connected the cities of Toronto and London.
Phase II: The Deep Freeze

As summer ended, Drake’s promotional campaign for the project took on a more sophisticated and atmospheric feel. In early August, he revealed a custom-made “ICEMAN” necklace, created by Eric the Jeweler, featuring a diamond-covered pendant with working miniature doors – a visual representation of the project’s “cold” theme. This darker aesthetic continued in early September with “ICEMAN Episode 3,” which debuted the moody song “Dog House,” featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf. Throughout the fall, Drake built anticipation online with mysterious posts referencing the X-Men character Iceman – described by comic book writer Mike Carey as someone who is brutally honest and open with his feelings – and athletes nicknamed “Iceman,” like NBA legend George Gervin and UFC fighter Chuck Liddell. He also hinted at Canada’s cold winters, reinforcing the project’s icy theme.
Phase III: The Final Crystalization

The OVO x Marvel collection launched on December 12th, marking the peak of the rollout. Instead of focusing on the Iceman character (Bobby Drake) as many expected, the collection featured darker, more complex Marvel anti-heroes like Venom, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Doom. Drake intentionally avoided a direct Iceman product, creating a sense of mystery and keeping fans guessing while still connecting to the Marvel universe through his ICEMAN brand. Industry experts are closely watching, as the collection’s themes of betrayal and power suggest Drake is preparing to fully reveal the project to a global audience.
Phase IV: Defrosting the Ice Pyramid

Drake recently created a huge ice pyramid in Toronto to build excitement for a new album. The structure, made of enormous ice blocks, had a mysterious message hinting at the album’s release date. Shortly after, the city saw large pyrotechnic displays, which were actually being filmed as part of a music video for his upcoming song, ICEMAN.
The puzzle surrounding the frozen monument was quickly solved. On April 21st, content creator Kishka, from Toronto, climbed the icy structure during a live broadcast, as fans excitedly tried to figure it out. At the top, he found a blue bag with the phrase “Freeze the world” on it. Things got even more interesting when streamer Adin Ross, who is associated with Drake, called Kishka on FaceTime and told him to deliver the bag directly to Drake’s home for a special reveal.
Kishka arrived at the mansion, still live-streaming to his fans, and was let in by Matte Babel, a member of Drake’s OVO team. He set up in the driveway and revealed what was inside the bag: large amounts of cash as a prize for finding the hidden information, plus an official announcement confirming that Iceman would be released on May 15th. As if that wasn’t enough, Drake even appeared briefly, waving to Kishka from a window.
With Toronto getting warmer and the ice melting, the anticipation for Drake’s new project is at its peak, now that the official release date of May 15th is confirmed.

Phase V: It Ain’t Over Till Three Albums Drop
Drake is building excitement for his new album, which comes out tomorrow! He just released the fourth episode of his ICEMAN livestream, giving fans a chance to connect before the album is available on streaming services. The broadcast is meant to get everyone hyped up for what many are calling his biggest release in years.
Drake announced the release of the fourth episode of his ICEMAN series with three Instagram posts. The episode premiered on his YouTube channel on Thursday, May 14th, at 9:45 p.m. Eastern Time. Fans tuned in hoping to see previews of new music and music videos, as well as confirmation that Future would be featured. As of right now, the episode has been set to private on YouTube.
Drake’s ICEMAN album is a significant release, marking his first full solo studio album since 2023’s For All the Dogs. To create excitement around the album, he started the ICEMAN livestream series last summer. The first episode aired in July, with two more episodes following in late July and September.
