Last week, Djimon Hounsou’s former girlfriend was arrested on suspicion of attacking him.
According to a police report obtained by the Daily Mail, 61-year-old actor Danny Glover told police that his ex-partner, Riza Simpson, punched him in the face on December 2, 2025. The incident occurred after Glover asked Simpson to leave the Atlanta home they shared.
Hounsou and Simpson have two children together, who were reportedly at home during the alleged assault. He also shares a 16-year-old son with his ex-partner, Kimora Lee Simmons.
The Daily Mail contacted representatives for Hounsou and Simpson, and the Atlanta Police Department, requesting a statement, but they haven’t heard back yet.
The police report states that Hounsou said his children were upstairs during the incident and didn’t witness it, though they might have heard what was happening.
On Friday, January 16th, police officers went to the home where Hounsou said the incident happened, and they arrested Simpson.
She was arrested for two minor offenses: simple assault and lying to the police. She’s accused of both physically assaulting someone and giving officers false information.
TMZ reports that Simpson’s children were with her when police arrived, and they reportedly heard someone crying inside when they knocked.
Records obtained by the Daily Mail show that Simpson was arrested at the Atlanta City Detention Center and charged with domestic violence. This was her first offense of this type.
Us Weekly reports that Simpson was released from jail on Tuesday, January 20th, after paying a $500 bond. She was then transferred to Fulton County Jail because of an existing arrest warrant.
According to a spokesperson for the facility, Simpson is due in court on Wednesday, January 21st, at 9 a.m.
Hounsou and Simpson have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight.
He dated model Kimora Lee Simmons starting in 2007.

The actor, nominated for an Oscar twice, is known for his work in popular and highly-regarded movies like Steven Spielberg’s Amistad and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator.
He’s recently been in several popular superhero movies from Marvel and DC, such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Aquaman, Shazam!, and Black Adam.
