Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson has been a hit, but there’s still a journey ahead to bring all five books by Rick Riordan to the screen. The first season was incredibly popular in 2023, attracting 13.3 million viewers worldwide on Disney+ and Hulu during its first week – making it the most-watched premiere ever for Disney Branded Television. It even outperformed Marvel shows like Moon Knight and Secret Invasion, racking up 572 million minutes of viewership in its debut week. While Season 2 hasn’t matched those numbers yet, it currently holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans are really enjoying the success of Percy’s, especially after the disappointing movies. However, the show’s long-term future depends on Season 3. This season promises something new for the series, introducing new characters and raising the stakes for Percy and his friends. Here’s what we know about Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, which could determine whether the show continues with Disney.
Disney Has Already Confirmed ‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3, But the Rest of the Series Is Not Guaranteed

Disney+
Disney announced a third season of Percy Jackson in March 2025, surprisingly early – even before Season 2 premiered on Disney+. This made many fans believe Season 2 was a guaranteed hit. While it’s still being discussed if Season 2 lived up to expectations, initial viewership numbers suggest a slight dip in popularity. Based on Rick Riordan’s The Sea of Monsters, Season 2 drew 508 million viewing minutes in its first week, compared to 572 million for Season 1, according to Nielsen data. Although not a failure, Percy Jackson wasn’t a runaway success either. It ranked as the fifth most-watched streaming show in the U.S. the week of December 8, 2025, but Disney isn’t heavily promoting the numbers, likely due to the passionate fanbase and high expectations for the series.
After the poor movie adaptations hurt the series’ reputation, Season 3 is crucial for Percy. If Disney doesn’t promote the new season effectively, viewership could drop even further compared to Season 2, signaling a loss of fan interest. If fans dislike Season 3, they might stop watching altogether. Percy needs to avoid both of these outcomes to secure renewals for future seasons. Luckily, Season 3 has a significant advantage over the previous two seasons that could turn things around.
‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 Will Adapt Rick Riordan’s Third Book, Marking a Franchise First

Disney+
Season three of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will finally bring The Titan’s Curse to life on screen. This is exciting because it’s the first time this story has been adapted for live-action, meaning the show isn’t trying to fix past adaptations – it’s a completely fresh start. Book fans are especially eager to see how Disney handles the story’s darker themes, wintry setting, and new characters like Atlas, Artemis, and Nico di Angelo. This increased interest could draw in a larger audience and potentially lead to adaptations of the remaining books, The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian.
Rick Riordan is thrilled about the chance to create a TV adaptation of The Titan’s Curse. In a recent statement, he expressed his gratitude for continuing the Percy Jackson story on Disney+, noting that the third season will introduce exciting new characters like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo for the first time. He sees Disney’s commitment as a direct result of the show’s enthusiastic fan base and thanked fans around the world for their support.
This is a big change from how Rick Riordan reacted in 2009 when he learned about the planned direction of Chris Columbus’ The Lightning Thief movie. He strongly disliked 20th Century Fox’s ideas and wrote a critical letter to the filmmakers pointing out their errors. Unfortunately, they didn’t listen, and the movies were both a box office failure and widely disliked by fans – leading to the cancellation of a third film. Now, Riordan is deeply involved with Disney’s Percy Jackson series, which means Season 3 will be the most accurate adaptation of his books that fans could hope for.
‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 Will Feature A Plethora of New Characters and Cast Members

Disney+
The main cast – Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood – will all be back for Season 3. Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue) and Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan) are also returning, and we can expect to see Daniel Diemer reprise his role as Percy’s half-brother, Tyson. Plus, Tamara Smart will be back as Thalia Grace, who was brought back to life at the end of The Sea of Monsters thanks to the Golden Fleece. This makes her an important character as Percy learns more about the Great Prophecy, especially since she’s the daughter of Zeus.
Like the first two seasons, Season 3 will feature a fantastic new cast of gods and goddesses, many played by well-known actors. Dafne Keen, who starred in the movie Logan, will play Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, and Saara Chaudry from The Mysterious Benedict Society will play her loyal companion, Zoë Nightshade. Kate McKinnon of Saturday Night Live will portray Aphrodite, the goddess of love, while Holt McCallany, known for Mindhunter, will play Atlas, the Titan forced to hold up the sky. New actors Olive Abercrombie and Levi Chrisopulos will join the cast as Bianca and Nico di Angelo, and Jesse L. Martin from The Flash will play Frederick Chase, Annabeth’s father. His appearance is sure to create some interesting drama for Annabeth, though hopefully the show won’t repeat the issues her character had with Percy in previous seasons.
The Plot of ‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 Raises the Stakes

Disney+
In The Titan’s Curse, Percy receives a desperate message from his friend Grover, who has found two new half-blood siblings, Bianca and Nico di Angelo, at Westover Hall military academy. Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia go undercover at the academy to bring the siblings to safety at Camp Half-Blood, but their plan goes wrong when Annabeth is kidnapped by a manticore. Luckily, Artemis and her Hunters appear and offer to escort Percy and the siblings to camp. However, when Artemis sets out alone to hunt a dangerous monster that could threaten Olympus, Percy is left to rescue Annabeth and thwart a dangerous new scheme by the growing Titan Lord, Kronos.

Following the source material, Season 3 of Percy Jackson will likely be more serious and intense than previous seasons, reflecting Percy’s growth as he learns what it truly means to be a demigod. Unlike earlier seasons where characters could often be revived, things will be much more permanent this time. If done well, the higher stakes in Season 3 will set the stage for the larger war that the series is building towards, presenting Percy with difficult challenges and forcing him to make tough choices to protect those he cares about and the world.
Don’t Be Surprised if ‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 Releases as Soon as 2026

Disney+
Filming for Season 3 of Percy Jackson started in the middle of 2025 and is still ongoing, with plans to finish around March 2nd. Because of this, and Disney’s already full schedule for 2026, it’s probably safe to say the new season won’t be available on Disney+ until 2027. However, the show’s creators are working hard to film quickly, as the young actors are growing up fast, so a late 2026 release isn’t impossible.
Walker Scobell, the star of the show, has hinted that Season 3 is shaping up to be excellent. He told SYFY WIRE in December 2025 that they were already more than halfway through filming, and he’s particularly thrilled with the first two episodes – calling them his favorites so far. This is encouraging news for fans hoping Season 3 is successful enough to earn the show two more renewals, which would allow the entire Percy Jackson book series to be adapted for television.
