A new Batman movie is in development, and the storyline promises to be thrilling. It seems there’s no end in sight for Batman’s big-screen adventures, as two films are currently in the works. First up is the next installment starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, and recent news about The Batman 2 is gaining traction – including the addition of two actors known for their work in Marvel films.
James Gunn’s new DC Universe will introduce a fresh take on Batman in the movie The Brave and the Bold. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, it’s likely to come out in 2028, following The Batman 2 which is scheduled for 2027. Before either of those films, audiences will see another Batman movie from DC in 2026.
DC’s Next Batman Movie Releases This Year

On October 10, 2025, DC announced the first part of its animated Batman: Knightfall adaptation, titled ‘Knightfall,’ will be released sometime in 2026. This movie isn’t just a one-off; it’s the beginning of a new series of films, as DC plans to adapt the entire Knightfall story across four movies.
DC has announced that Bane will be the main villain in the upcoming Batman movie, just like in the comic books. The story will involve Bane releasing all of Batman’s enemies from Arkham Asylum, creating a huge challenge for the hero and pushing him to his absolute limits, both mentally and physically.
DC’s Next Batman Movie Being Animated Is Perfect
With two live-action Batman movies already planned for the next couple of years, I think it’s a good idea to make the next Batman film animated. It would offer a fresh take on the character by telling a unique story in a different style, separate from the shared universes of the upcoming live-action films.
Knightfall is a legendary Batman storyline. While Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises borrowed from it with mixed success, a new adaptation that stays true to the comics could fix the issues with the movie. This version allows for key characters like Azrael, who plays a crucial role in the original story, to finally be included.
Jeremy Adams, the writer of Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, has confirmed that Tim Drake will be the Robin featured in the next Batman movie from DC. This is exciting news for fans, as Tim Drake hasn’t always gotten the spotlight in comics, animated series, or live-action films, making this a particularly special opportunity to see him in the role.
