Kurt Iswarienko, the ex-husband of the late Shannen Doherty, was seen in public for the first time this week in Los Angeles. This comes after he previously contested their divorce.
According to Us Weekly, Iswarienko’s lawyer recently filed court documents arguing the divorce agreement was filed in the incorrect court, which they believe invalidates the court’s ability to handle the case.
Shannen Doherty, known for her role on Beverly Hills, 90210, passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 53, after fighting cancer for almost ten years.
Doherty signed the divorce agreement on July 12, 2024, and Iswarienko signed it the following day, on July 13, 2024. A judge then approved the agreement on July 15, 2024.
In recently filed court documents, photographer Iswarienko states the divorce case is now unnecessary because Doherty passed away on July 13th, effectively ending the marriage. He believes this means the court no longer has the authority to enforce any divorce agreement.
Fifty-one-year-old Iswarienko was seen on Monday, five days after submitting some paperwork. She was casually dressed in a white tank top and sweatpants.
According to legal documents obtained by The Daily Mail, the estate claims that Iswarienko didn’t fulfill promises made in their divorce settlement. Specifically, he allegedly failed to list their former $1.5 million home in Dripping Springs, Texas, by the agreed-upon deadline.
Iswarienko is also being accused of not paying over $50,000 that he supposedly owes to the estate and of refusing to give back personal belongings of the deceased.
Chris Cortazzo, who manages Shannen Doherty’s family trust, filed a legal document on November 24th asking the court to take over the enforcement of the financial agreement reached in Doherty’s divorce from Iswarienko. The filing included a copy of their divorce decree.
According to the court’s decision, Iswarienko committed to listing their Texas home for sale by April 1, 2025, and will split the profits from the sale equally with Doherty’s estate.
Let me tell you, according to court documents, as of today, the person we’re talking about is refusing to put the Texas house on the market. And it doesn’t stop there – they’re also holding onto the deceased’s personal belongings and won’t return them. It’s a really frustrating situation, and unfortunately, it’s now a legal matter.
Iswarienko and Doherty also agreed that after the airplane hangar was sold, Iswarienko would purchase Doherty’s share of their Mooney-20 airplane for $100,000.
However, the filing alleges Iswarienko withheld $50,274 from his ex’s estate.
In August 2024, shortly after the death of the estate owner, the Respondent kept $50,274 from the payment due to the estate following the sale of the Hangar.
The payment owed to the estate of the deceased was supposed to be made within five business days of the hangar sale, which was around August 21, 2024. However, that payment is now 15 months overdue.
They also state that Iswarienko hasn’t provided a promised list of works created while they were married, nor copies of anything he published during that time.
The couple’s agreement specified that Doherty was entitled to half of the money her ex-husband earned from licensing or selling his work created while they were married, with a few specific situations excluded.
They also agreed that Iswarienko would remove all pictures of Doherty from his website.
He was to create the lists by September 1, 2024, however the estate claims he has failed to do so.
Doherty passed away in 2024, four years after she was diagnosed with stage four cancer.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 then went into remission in 2017.

Shannen Doherty has sadly passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She died on Saturday, July 13th, according to a statement given to People magazine.
She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and her beloved dog, Bowie. The family appreciates privacy as they mourn her loss.
Doherty is best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed.
Before marrying Iswarienko, she had two short-lived marriages: to Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003, and to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994.
