A key character on the New York team might be leaving when FBI season 8 returns. Although the show doesn’t premiere until next TV season (2025-2026), CBS is already starting to promote the new episodes and share what viewers can expect.
The latest season of FBI began with some surprising twists after a dramatic season finale. Viewers were relieved to see Isobel survive a dangerous situation, but the season also brought the unexpected death of Dani Rhodes. Now, as fans wait for the second half of the season, CBS has revealed that the New York team may be losing another key member.
Scola & Eva Are Confirmed To Butt Heads In FBI Season 8, Part 2
CBS
Before the next episodes air, it’s been revealed that tension is building between Scola and his new partner, Eva Ramos. Juliana Aidén Martinez shared with TVInsider that viewers will see “small issues and vulnerabilities” in their working relationship, and that they’ll be challenged in interesting ways. She explained that a key theme will be establishing trust, especially considering Eva’s history with Forefront.
John Boyd notes that Scola deeply cares for his new partner, perhaps more than she realizes. He describes Scola as a bit rough around the edges, but incredibly loyal and willing to do anything for her – a true New Yorker. Boyd is enthusiastic about exploring this dynamic in the show and believes Juliana has made a fantastic entrance, and he’s excited to see how it all plays out.
As a big fan of the show, I remember how Scola found out about Eva’s past connection to Forefront way back in season 8, episode 1. It seemed like they’d dealt with it, so it’s really intriguing to see that storyline potentially causing trouble between them now. Honestly, after everything Forefront did to the New York office, I totally get why Scola would be so wary of Eva and her links to that group. It makes perfect sense!
Everyone knows Scola has worked with several partners since Tiffany Kane left in 2024. The FBI has tried pairing him with new agents, but none of those partnerships lasted, mostly due to personality clashes. If Scola and Eva can’t resolve their current conflict – which seems to be about trust – their partnership will likely end, and Eva will have to leave the team.
Why FBI Desperately Needs Scola & Eva’s Partnership To Work In Season 8

Right now, it’s more compelling to focus on Scola and Eva working well together. Tiffany’s exit created a significant gap in the team, and it’s unrealistic to expect anyone to fully fill her role. Luckily, Scola and Eva have already proven to be a strong team, so there’s no need to separate them – unless her past connection to Forefront causes problems down the line.
Overall, it would be best for the show if the FBI team continues working together as they have been. Agent Scola has had a lot of different partners recently, and both he and the series would benefit from some consistency. Focusing on existing relationships will also free up the show to explore other storylines instead of constantly needing to find a new field agent. And, Eva has proven to be a strong and welcome addition to the cast.
