As a huge Mobile Legends fan, I was blown away to hear that the M7 World Championship just broke viewership records! Apparently, the Swiss Stage was the most-watched pre-Knockout stage ever in the entire M Series – that’s incredible! It’s so cool to see the game growing and so many people tuning in to watch the best teams compete.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M7 World Championship continues to break records. After a hugely popular Wild Card round, the Swiss Stage also reached a new high for viewership in the M-Series, proving MLBB’s strength as a leading global esport.
That said, there’s more to the M7 World Championship than just record-breaking viewership.
M7 Swiss Stage breaks all-time viewership records
The match between ONIC ID and Team Falcons at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M7 World Championship’s Swiss Stage drew a peak of over 3.6 million viewers, according to Esports Charts. This Swiss format, which started at the M6 championship, is replacing the traditional group stage and is showing to be a success, creating more competitive matches and interesting storylines.
The new record surpasses the following records:
- M6 Swiss Stage: 2.5 million PCV
- M5 Group Stage: 1.4 million PCV
- M4 Group Stage: 1.6 million PCV
This viewership record applies only to the Swiss and Group Stages of the M-Series tournament. It adds to the growing popularity of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which was named the most-watched mobile esport of 2025. The recently finished Wild Card stage also set a new record, reaching over 447,251 concurrent viewers – the highest number ever for a Wild Card stage in M-Series history.
Which platform is the biggest viewership driver for MLBB esports?
Many people are wondering which streaming service brought in the biggest audience for the MLBB M7 World Championship. According to Artyom Odintsov, CEO of Esports Charts, TikTok was the leading platform in terms of viewership numbers.
The recent M7 Swiss Stage set a new record for the most popular mobile esports event yet, with over a million more viewers tuning in compared to the M6 Swiss Stage. TikTok was a major factor in this increase, becoming the preferred platform for watching in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines – even more popular than YouTube. This suggests TikTok is bringing a new, marketing-focused audience to mobile esports.
The M7 World Championship has been a huge hit with viewers, suggesting MOONTON Games is now expanding its reach worldwide. MLBB Esports is becoming more attractive to sponsors, as shown by new partnerships with Red Bull and Visa, and is also growing its competitive scene by featuring Magic Chess: Go Go as a major event alongside its main tournaments.
Tiger Xu, who leads MLBB Esports worldwide at MOONTON Games, highlighted how important this accomplishment is.
The impressive viewership of M7 demonstrates how well-developed and robust our overall system is – encompassing our partnerships, talent programs, and how we connect with fans. M7’s success marks a significant step forward in our growth, allowing us to share the M Series with audiences around the world.
MLBB transforms Jakarta into a living esports stage at the M7 World Championship
Okay, so before all the crazy matches even started at the M7 World Championship, Jakarta really stole the show! The opening ceremony on January 9th was HUGE – it basically turned the whole city into a live MLBB stage at Batavia PIK. The theme was ‘Rise As One,’ and honestly, it felt like the entire city was buzzing with excitement and ready to celebrate together. It was an awesome experience!
The M7 Opening Ceremony wasn’t just the start of a tournament; it was a proud showcase of Indonesia’s identity and its central role in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) community. Like football and badminton, MLBB has become a hugely popular competitive sport in Indonesia, fueled by passionate fans and a strong sense of national pride. The ceremony, set against the backdrop of Jakarta’s skyline, beautifully combined Indonesian culture with a modern, impressive esports presentation, solidifying Indonesia’s position as a leading global esports center.
The event sent a strong message of competition and unity. During the “Voices of M7: Rise As One” segment, the 16 competing teams were presented with a grand entrance – their flags were raised simultaneously, each carried by someone dressed as the hero Gatotkaca. This powerful display ended with the message “Rise As One, Let the World See Us,” bringing together players, fans, and countries under a common goal.
Honestly, the whole night was amazing, but when Luminaire, Wannn, and Vivian – absolute legends of Indonesian MLBB – walked out with the M7 Trophy, alongside Igede “Igedz Executioner” Dharma Susila from Physical Asia, it was a moment. It felt like they were passing the torch, recognizing all the past champions and getting everyone hyped for the next big world championship run. It was seriously epic!
The M7 Opening Ceremony in Jakarta wasn’t just the beginning of a tournament; it highlighted how Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has become a major cultural phenomenon, representing Indonesia’s energy and talent on the international scene.
Indonesia ignites the competition in the M7 Knockout Stage
The M7 Knockout Stage kicks off in Jakarta on January 18th, bringing together the top eight teams. This event marks a return for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) to Indonesia, which last hosted a major MLBB tournament (M4) in 2021. Indonesia continues to be the most passionate and dedicated MLBB Esports community, with MPL Indonesia consistently drawing huge viewership – over 100 million hours watched in each of its last five seasons.
Day 1 of the tournament delivered some unexpected results! Both Team Liquid PH and ONIC ID, two of the biggest names in Mobile Legends esports, lost their matches in the upper bracket to strong regional opponents, Aurora Gaming PH and Alter Ego. This means they’ll now have to fight their way back up from the lower bracket if they want to reach the Grand Finals. The competition is getting intense, and this could lead to record-breaking viewership numbers for the M7 Knockout Stage. We’ll find out soon enough! Day 2 begins on January 21st, following a two-day pause.
