Filming for the seventh season of Line Of Duty will begin in the Spring. Before returning to set, stars Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar spent the weekend getting to know each other better.
Actress Vicky, 42, had her friend and co-star Adrian, 67, over to her house in Nottingham. They watched the Nottingham Forest versus Arsenal game together, joined by Vicky’s ‘Trigger Point’ co-star, Eric Shango.
Vicky posted a photo of the friends outside Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, a pub famous for being England’s oldest inn.
Adrian enjoyed a pint with Vicky and her husband, Welsh director Jonny Owen at the pub.
‘Had the best few days in Notts with the best of friends ♥️’ Vicky sweetly captioned the photos.
Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s HAPPENING! Line Of Duty is coming back for a seventh season! I can barely breathe! And the best part? Vicky, Adrian, and Martin – Ted, Steve, and Kate – they’re ALL returning! I’m already counting down the days! It’s going to be epic!

The final episode of Jed Mercurio’s popular thriller aired in 2021 and attracted a record-breaking 17 million viewers within 28 days, making it the most-watched drama episode since records began in 2002.
Fans were upset with how the sixth series ended, especially when it was revealed that the seemingly incompetent Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) was actually ‘H’ – the hidden figure responsible for the corruption within the police force.
Hoping to win back fans the new six-part series will start filming in Belfast in the coming spring.
AC-12 has been shut down and replaced with a new unit called the Inspectorate of Police Standards, but Martin, Vicky, and Adrian are all back on the job.
Fighting corruption is tougher than ever, and now Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Ted Hastings face their most delicate and high-stakes investigation yet.
Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a popular and successful officer known for dismantling criminal organizations, is now facing accusations of using his authority to sexually exploit others.
But is Gough’s case a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows?
Talking about the upcoming season, Martin explained to the Chris Evans Breakfast Show that they decided last year to simplify things and focus on the future.

We talk pretty often – almost every day or at least every couple of weeks. We’ve become really good friends. As soon as I arrived the other night, Jed took me out for curry.
We realized time was running out. We’re not getting any younger, and we felt like if we were going to do it, now was the time – otherwise, the opportunity might pass us by.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve learned timing is everything! We were really hitting a point where if we waited too long between projects, things would stall. Honestly, giving Jed some space is brilliant – it allows him the time he needs to craft a really solid storyline and develop things properly. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between momentum and creative breathing room.
He added of the script: ‘I mean, it’s fantastic… already it’s a proper page turner.
It’s important to build something genuine, not just quickly put it together. However, the writing is fantastic, and everyone is eager to start working on it again.
The series finale drew an impressive 16 million viewers, making it the most-watched drama in the country since 2018.
After series six ended, some fans expressed their disappointment and had questions left unanswered. Jed addressed the negative reactions by responding on social media.

He acknowledged the episode sparked a lot of debate online, but research on the actual audience showed reactions weren’t as strongly negative as social media suggested.
While the Line of Duty finale sparked a lot of debate online, initial audience research suggests the reaction wasn’t as strongly divided as social media might indicate.
We understood that a less positive ending might not appeal to everyone, but the average viewer scores for all seven episodes were remarkably consistent, varying by less than 10%.
Jed explained that the show’s ratings come from randomly surveying viewers, not from websites like IMDb, where scores can be easily influenced by people with very strong opinions.
We asked 1,000 viewers to rate the finale on a scale of 1 to 10. We then used these ratings to create an Appreciation Index (AI), scored out of 100. The finale, often referred to as the ‘down’ finale, received a score only 7 points higher than the lowest-rated episode from Season 6 (Episode 1).
Jed finished by saying that these numbers won’t end the discussion, and that’s okay—debate is a natural part of watching TV with others. He thanked everyone for tuning in.
