At 63, Irish journalist Mariella Frostrup is stunning in a recent swimsuit photo taken on the beach.
Mariella’s joy for life was clear, as she smiled broadly with her arms raised high.
Despite her age, she confessed to feeling more adventurous now than ever before, saying she has a greater desire for new experiences in her sixties.
The broadcaster has teamed up with Staysure’s Dream Big Campaign fighting ageism.
Photos show her hiking in the mountains and taking a relaxing evening walk on the beach, even carrying a night light with her.
It’s frustrating when the world doesn’t seem to understand who we are, what our friends are like, or what we’re hoping to achieve. We often feel like our true selves aren’t reflected back to us.

As you get older, you realize you’re living the second half of your life. Instead of wanting things to slow down and become less exciting, you start wanting to experience everything you’ve always dreamed of before it’s too late.
Mariella says she’s adding more and more places to her dream travel list, and she’s still excited about exploring the world.
Mariella, who was born in Oslo and grew up in Ireland, openly discusses the challenges of midlife and menopause.
She recently told SheerLuxe about her own experience with the menopause in her 40s.
Between the ages of 46 and 48, I struggled with intense anxiety for two years. I experienced racing heartbeats, intrusive thoughts, and constant worry, often waking up anxious in the middle of the night. It felt like I was losing my mind, and this led to long-term sleep problems. I didn’t understand what was happening to me at the time.
I visited my doctor and was initially offered antidepressants. I had several blood tests to check if I was going through menopause, but the results were inconsistent – sometimes suggesting perimenopause, sometimes postmenopause, and sometimes no menopause at all. We now understand those tests aren’t reliable during perimenopause because hormone levels change so much.
After going private, a gynaecologist told her she’s ‘clearly perimenopausal’.
After getting a bone density scan, she finally realized how much hormone changes were affecting her health, including the risk of conditions like osteoporosis and heart disease.
The biggest problem isn’t just the symptoms women experience, but the fact that many people don’t understand perimenopause. It often begins in a woman’s early forties, but too frequently, concerns are brushed aside or dismissed as being too early to address. What’s needed is better education, real support, and the ability for women to confidently say what they’re going through and how to manage it.
