The new Exorcist movie, directed by Mike Flanagan, has been delayed and now has a new release date. Originally planned for release in March, production was paused so Flanagan could focus on his Carrie television series. This makes it the seventh installment in the long-running horror franchise.
Mike Flanagan said on Tumblr last year that production on The Exorcist hasn’t begun yet, as they’re still finishing Carrie. He also confirmed it won’t be released next March, but assured fans there’s no need to be concerned.
I just saw the news – apparently Universal has pushed back the release of The Exorcist to March 12th, 2027! That’s almost a year later than they originally intended, according to Variety. A bit of a wait, but hopefully it’ll be worth it!

Following the loss of her close friend, Eleanor relocates to New York City and forms a surprising connection with a nineteen-year-old woman named Erin Kellyman.
The Exorcist is scheduled to be released on 12 March, 2027
