Magda Szubanski has warned her fans about scammers who are exploiting her recent cancer diagnosis. They are using her image online to trick people, and she’s urging everyone to be careful.
The popular comedian, who shared in May that she has an aggressive form of blood cancer called Mantle Cell Lymphoma, used social media on Saturday to reveal a false story about her.
Kath & Kim’s star shared a fake AI-created image of herself in a hospital bed to warn people that scammers were trying to trick her fans into sending money.
Okay, so just to clear things up, the woman in that photo isn’t me! I’ve seen the questions, and I wanted to address it directly. I genuinely hope whoever she is is doing great, though. It’s always nice to see people thriving, even if they aren’t in the public eye like I am!
She alerted her fans that a picture of her was being shared online as part of a fundraising campaign claiming to be for her cancer treatment. She emphasized she had no connection to this appeal and asked people not to donate any money.
Oh my gosh, please listen up! If you see ANY fundraiser claiming to be for me, it’s a total fake! Seriously, DO NOT donate to it. If you want to connect with the real me, I’m right here – anywhere else is a scam, and it breaks my heart that someone would try to take advantage of you lovely people who are so supportive. Please be careful!

Lots of Magda’s famous friends commented, saying they couldn’t believe the story was a fake.
‘Bloody lowlifes. Sending you so much love,’ wrote MasterChef Australia star Julie Goodwin.
‘OMG that’s crazy,’ added Gogglebox veteran Isabelle Silberry.
In May, Magda shared on social media that she was fighting a rare cancer called Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
She appeared on camera with a shaved head after beginning her treatment to fight the disease.
Hi everyone. I recently received a diagnosis of a rare, aggressive, and serious form of lymphoma, and I’ve shaved my head in preparation for hair loss, which is expected to begin in a couple of weeks.
Ugh, this one’s really rough, honestly. But I’m so lucky – I have the most amazing friends and family, and my doctors and nurses are just incredible. They’re really helping me get through this.
I truly believe Australia, and especially Melbourne, has some of the very best resources and opportunities available. I feel incredibly lucky to be here.

It can be quite shocking and overwhelming, but thankfully, new treatment options are constantly being developed.
Magda explained she’s begun a treatment plan called the Nordic protocol for her MCL. This treatment uses a combination of drugs over five stages to reduce the size of the tumors.
Magda continues to openly share her health experiences, following her time as a spokesperson for the weight loss program Jenny Craig and her recent ABC TV series, Magda’s Big National Health Check.
As someone who shares a lot about wellness, I’ve been open about my health journey, which includes managing osteoarthritis, autoimmune arthritis, sleep apnea, and migraines. It’s all part of finding what works for me and living my best life, even with these challenges.
Beyond taking care of her body, the comedian has also openly discussed the importance of mental health, honestly sharing her own struggles with anxiety.
In a compelling 2022 essay for the ABC, Magda shared her personal experiences with weight and how dieting negatively affected her life.
