Katie Bates has revealed the devastating news that she suffered a miscarriage.
On Saturday, the 25-year-old reality star from Bringing Up Bates shared a tearful video on Instagram, revealing she had just experienced a miscarriage while in the hospital.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I was screaming when I saw the video! It started with her holding up a positive pregnancy test – a POSITIVE TEST! – and then she was shopping for the cutest little baby onesie. But the best part? She surprised Travis with the news! I literally cried when they both just looked at each other, knowing they were going to be parents. It was the sweetest thing ever!
Oh my gosh, you guys, they already HAVE two kids! Little Hailey is about to turn three in February – I can’t even handle how cute she must be! – and then there’s baby Harvey, who’s just ONE! Seriously, they’re building the most adorable little family, and I’m completely obsessed with keeping up with all their milestones!
The video featured a voiceover saying, ‘I’ll spend my life questioning why this happened, and I doubt I’ll ever have an answer. Even if I received a direct explanation from God, I still wouldn’t be able to accept it.’

Bates captioned the clip, ‘I will spend the rest of my life missing you.’
Bates and Clark welcomed their first child, daughter Hailey James, in February 2023.
Their son Harvey Gray followed in September 2024.
Tori Bates grew up in a very large family, with nineteen siblings. Her family was featured on the UPtv show for ten seasons, from 2015 to 2021.
Several of her siblings appeared in the comments of her post to show their support.
Her sister Carlin added, ‘My heart is broken for you. love you, sis!!’
Katie’s brothers expressed their deep sadness and love for her. Lawson wrote, ‘We’re so sorry. Love you,’ and Zach shared, ‘Praying for you, Katie, and so sorry for your loss.’
Zach’s wife, Whitney, shared a message of support for Katie, saying they are heartbroken for her and sending their love and prayers.
Her parents shared their grief on their family account, @thebatesfam, writing, ‘It’s impossible to express how much we’re hurting. We’re heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing we’ll be reunited with our sweet baby someday.’
The proud grandparents also shared a photo with their newest grandchild on Saturday.
They joyfully announced the arrival of their son Lawson’s baby, sharing that this makes their 38th grandchild!
