Today host Sarah Abo reveals the REAL reason why we never see her mysterious husband Cyrus Moran: ‘It’s not as though he’s hiding’

Sarah Abo recently shared the unexpected reason her husband, Cyrus Moran, avoids public attention.

Karl Stefanovic’s co-host on Today, a 40-year-old woman, recently shared in Stellar magazine that her husband prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

He’s not trying to stay out of sight, he’s just not getting much media attention right now, according to Sarah, who shared this on the Something To Talk About podcast.

Sarah mentioned that people are often surprised to learn her husband, after 13 years of marriage, isn’t interested in working in the media.

She explained that some people just couldn’t grasp the situation, saying, “They think, ‘I have an unusual job and life, why doesn’t he?'”

Because they highly value their privacy, the couple has faced some uncomfortable moments. For example, he turned down an invitation to be on a Today show segment celebrating her 40th birthday.

‘Today wanted to get my family in Melbourne up via video link, but they were like, “Oh, Cyrus, can you just come on set and just wish Sarah a happy birthday,”‘ she said.

He firmly refused, saying, “Are you going to harm me if I don’t appear on television? I apologize, but would you mind if I didn’t do it?”

Sarah shared that a major part of what made their relationship strong was how much they supported each other, and she assured her husband she’d be okay with any choice he made.

He reluctantly agreed, saying he’d do it only if I insisted, but he clearly didn’t want to. I told him I didn’t want him to do anything he wasn’t comfortable with, because that just wasn’t his nature, she explained.

The Syrian-born presenter has been married to Cyrus since 2012.

Cyrus is a trader at a steel mill in Victoria, Australia, connecting Australian businesses with companies around the world.

Cyrus and Sarah both attended Monash University. Cyrus earned a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2004, while Sarah started her journalism studies at the same university that same year.

Sarah generally doesn’t talk about her love life, but she sometimes shares cute pictures of her and Cyrus online.

A photo from May 2023 shows Miley Cyrus and Dominic Fike celebrating her 40th birthday, with Sarah affectionately hugging her at the party.

Sarah shared a birthday message with a photo, writing, ‘Happy birthday. Beautiful, even a little blurry, you. #fortyandfine.’

In November 2022, Channel Nine revealed that Sarah, who previously worked as a reporter for 60 Minutes, would be joining Karl Stefanovic as a co-host on the Today show, taking over from Allison Langdon.

In a press release, Sarah expressed her excitement about joining the team at Today, praising their dedication to informing the nation each morning and their positive work environment.
