While Margot Robbie often plays romantic roles in movies, she seems to prefer a more private and understated approach to romance in her personal life.
Margot Robbie, 35, known for her role in Barbie, was seen enjoying a low-key shopping outing in Notting Hill with her husband, Tom Ackerley, a British producer. They were looking at vintage clothes, art, and antiques.
Instead of going to fancy restaurants in West London, where many celebrities hang out, they opted for a simple and affordable meal – a £7.50 falafel pitta wrap from a vegan takeaway called Falafel King, which Tom happily ate.
The relaxed couple, enjoying a rare moment alone without their baby, smiled and held hands as they strolled along Portobello Road, blending in with the other shoppers.
They paid particular attention to a vintage chest of drawers in one store, which Tom photographed.
Robbie, the Australian star, was seen carrying a bag from Rejina Pyo, a fashion and home goods store, and Tom had a bag from the personalized perfume shop, Le Labo.
She opted for a casual look with jeans, Converse sneakers, a long leather coat, a red beanie, and sunglasses. Tom, age 35, was wearing a £400 Jacquemus hoodie.
Tom produced the upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which is intended to be quite provocative and is directed by Emerald Fennell, known for her work on Saltburn.
His wife stars as Cathy Earnshaw, and their story centers on her passionate, but ultimately devastating, love for the enigmatic Heathcliff, portrayed by Jacob Elordi. Their relationship causes pain and suffering that affects their families for years to come, all set against the dramatic backdrop of the Yorkshire moors.
Some reviewers have criticized the choice of white actor Jacob Elordi for a role in which author Emily Brontë envisioned a character with dark skin. Others have said Margot Robbie is too old to portray Cathy, who is a teenage character in the book.
Fennell explained the film required someone with Margot Robbie’s star power – someone so captivating that audiences would be completely mesmerized.
