It’s gonna be a really interesting tournament this year because the previous champion isn’t even in the running!
Here’s a look at the teams moving on to the knockout stage of the M7 World Championship, along with some compelling stories to watch.
M7 World Championship Knockout Stage qualified teams
Following a week of intense competition, only eight teams remain in the M7 World Championship and will advance to the Knockout stage. Here’s a look at the teams still in the running:
- Alter Ego (AE)
- ONIC ID (ONIC)
- Team Liquid PH (TLPH)
- Selangor Red Giants (SRG)
- Team Spirit (TS)
- Aurora Gaming (RORA)
- Yangon Galacticos (YG)
Alter Ego
It’s been a while since Alter Ego competed internationally. They last played at M2, finishing fourth. This Knockout Stage is a great chance for them to prove they’re serious contenders. Alter Ego impressively won all of their matches in the Swiss Stage, and it will be exciting to see if they can maintain that momentum in the next part of the M7 World Championship.
ONIC ID
ONIC ID, a popular team known as the Sky Kings, started the M7 tournament as a strong contender, but early matches revealed some surprising vulnerabilities. Losses against Yangon Galacticos and Team Spirit cast doubt on their performance. They managed to qualify for the Knockout Stage with a vital victory over Team Falcons, but their difficulties in the initial rounds are undeniable. Now, with a clean slate in the Knockout Stage, it’s unclear if ONIC can regain their championship level when the stakes are highest.
Team Liquid PH
Team Liquid PH is the team to keep an eye on in the M7 Knockout Stage. They’re fully committed to winning it all and won’t let anything stop them. They played incredibly well throughout the tournament, with their only loss coming against Selangor Red Giants. Surprisingly, that loss actually made them even stronger. They quickly recovered, decisively defeating Yangon Galacticos. Now, everyone is wondering if they can continue their winning streak and ultimately claim the championship.
Selangor Red Giants
Selangor Red Giants are looking like the team to beat at the M7 World Championship Knockout Stage. They’ve been a major force in the tournament, pioneering a unique team strategy with Sora in the Gold Lane that’s changed how teams play. They’re also the only team so far to defeat the strong Filipino team TLPH. With four MPL Malaysia championships and the recent MSC 2024 title under their belt, can SRG add a world championship to their impressive collection this year? We’ll see what happens!
Team Spirit
Team Spirit is no stranger to high-stakes competition, just like many of the teams currently in the Knockout Stage. They previously placed fourth at the M6 World Championship, falling to SRG with a 3-0 loss. Now, they have another opportunity to demonstrate their ability to win it all and potentially become world champions. However, they’ll first need to overcome the top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports teams.
Aurora Gaming
Aurora Gaming PH is competing in the M7 World Championship for the first time, though their players are all seasoned veterans of international tournaments. The team has faced criticism for being inconsistent, often struggling under pressure. Despite this, they’ve made it to the Knockout Stage. Their ability to overcome these challenges will likely decide how successful their championship run will be.
Aurora Gaming Turkey
In addition to their team in the Philippines, Aurora Gaming’s Turkish squad has also qualified for the knockout rounds of the M7 World Championship. This team is made up of players who previously competed for top Turkish teams, Fire Flux Esports and S2G Esports. While Aurora has been very successful domestically, they’re still looking for their first international championship. They performed well in the Swiss Stage, with their only defeat coming against Alter Ego. Now, all eyes are on them to see if they can keep up their strong performance and make a significant run in the knockout stage.
Yangon Galacticos
Yangon Galacticos, representing Myanmar, has been a standout team at the M7 World Championship. Similar to SRG, they’ve impressed everyone with their unusual team selections during the early Swiss Stage, and these unexpected choices have actually proven successful. This creativity makes them a very unpredictable opponent. Now, fans are wondering what new strategies they’ll reveal in the Knockout Stage and if those surprises will be enough to help them advance.
