The little-known erotic thriller, Bone Lake, is gaining popularity after becoming available on Netflix.
Two years after hitting theaters, the horror-mystery film Bone Lake, directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan (known for Spoonful of Sugar), is now gaining popularity on Netflix. The film has been well-received, earning an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many critics calling it a surprisingly enjoyable and twisted thriller.
Diego, played by Marco Pigossi, and Sage, played by Maddie Hasson, head to a remote lakeside estate for a romantic vacation, but things quickly go wrong when they discover they’re sharing the mansion with a peculiar and secretive couple. What starts as a getaway soon becomes a terrifying ordeal of betrayal, deceit, and violence, culminating in a desperate fight to stay alive.
If you enjoy suspenseful psychological thrillers or slasher horror, this movie is a great pick. Bone Lake features clever writing and strong performances. While it didn’t make a huge splash in theaters, earning $1.4 million worldwide on a small budget, it’s found a new audience on streaming. Proof of its popularity? It’s currently the 6th most-watched film in the U.S. on Netflix.
Emma Hasson plays Sage in Bone Lake, and you might also recognize her from We Summon the Darkness, Malignant, and Elevation. She’s currently working on The Altruists, where she’ll play Lauren Platt. Alex Roe appears as Will in Bone Lake, but is also known for his roles in The 5th Wave, Hot Summer Nights, and Forever My Girl.
Actor Patrick Pigossi plays Diego, Sage’s boyfriend, and is also known for his roles in High Tide and Gen V. He has several new projects coming out soon, including Caviar Star, Okonomiyaki, You’re Dating a Narcissist!, and Bowels of Hell.
