Ben Affleck gives awkward response as he’s dragged into Real Housewives drama: ‘I don’t want to get anybody in trouble’

Okay, so everyone’s been asking about this! I’m setting the record straight: Ben Affleck and I have chatted about whether he knows Lisa Barlow from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. It’s a funny question, and honestly, it’s been a topic of conversation around here! I can confirm he’s addressed it, and we’ve talked it through.

Actor Ben Affleck, 53, recently addressed a claim made by Jennifer Barlow that she saw him and Blake Lively at an event. This came after his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, shared a story about how she ‘survived’ his intense fascination with Beyoncé.

The reality TV star, who is 51 years old, reportedly used Blake Lively and Ben Affleck as a reason to skip filming with her Bravo colleagues.

While promoting his new movie, ‘The Rip’ on Netflix, Ben Affleck was shown a picture of Harlow and asked if he knew who she was.

The Oscar-winning actor hesitated to answer as he didn’t want to ‘get anybody in trouble.’

But Matt Damon, his co-star, made him think about when he had last been to Utah, as that’s probably where the event Barlow mentioned happened.

Affleck estimated that he hadn’t been to the state in possibly a decade. 

Okay, so he just said the most things about her! He was like, ‘Honestly, I don’t recognize her at all, I have zero memory of her,’ and then – get this – he added that he ‘doesn’t want to embarrass her’! Like, what does that mean?! It’s infuriating! He’s clearly trying to be polite, but it’s just… ugh! I can’t believe he doesn’t remember her! It’s a travesty, honestly.

‘I don’t think I’m qualified to weigh in on this,’ he said concluded.

Affleck and Barlow met at least once, as evidenced by a photo Barlow posted on social media in August 2024.

It’s unknown exactly when the photo was shared, but the TV personality posted it while the filmmaker was going through a highly publicized breakup with Jennifer Lopez.

She also shared a separate photo with Lopez at the time, and quipped, ‘I didn’t pick sides.’  

I was so thrilled to hear Ben Affleck and Matt Damon talking about their friendship again this week! They were chatting with the press and really opened up about how long they’ve known each other and how close they are. It’s amazing to see a friendship last so long in Hollywood!

On Tuesday morning, during an interview with Craig Melvin on the Today show, the Boston-based couple shared what annoys them most about each other.

Affleck jokingly said Damon wasn’t very good at keeping the house tidy. Damon quickly countered, explaining that was only true when he was younger.

Damon later named Affleck’s lateness as the thing that bugs him most.

I arrived this morning, and you won’t believe it – Ben was actually early! He beat me here, and it’s the first time in 45 years he hasn’t been late – I had to give him a bit of playful teasing about it, of course!

The playful back-and-forth continued, with Affleck responding, ‘That’s totally untrue. I work really hard, and I’m involved in other projects too.’

I always get a kick out of hearing him talk about the actor who plays him on screen! He playfully complains that this guy lives a life of total ease. He says it’s like stepping out of his trailer and everything is instantly taken care of – magically, even! He understands how it happens, of course, with all the crew working behind the scenes, but he jokingly says it’s alright, like it’s just part of the fun.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who previously won an Academy Award for their 1997 film Good Will Hunting, reunite in a new thriller directed by Joe Carnahan. The story follows Miami police officers who come across a massive sum of money.
