Okay, so I just saw the first glimpse of Empire City, the new action movie with Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell! It looks intense – it’s about a hostage situation. Plus, they dropped some news about how the movie’s coming along and who’s involved, which is pretty cool.
The movie takes place in New York City and centers on Rhett, a firefighter, and Dani, a police officer. When a hostage crisis erupts in the Clybourn Building, they team up with Rhett’s fellow firefighters to rescue the people being held captive.
The first-look images show Butler hanging out in his fire truck, and Atwell in her uniform.

Even though the movie takes place in New York City, it’s being filmed in Melbourne, Australia.
As of today, filming is a little over halfway complete, and several actors have just joined the project.

According to Deadline, Omari Hardwick, known for his role in Power, will play the villain Hawkins in the film. Mel Jarnson, who appeared in Mortal Kombat, will play Leda, Hawkins’s second-in-command.
The cast also includes Dominic Bogart from American Primeval, Jack DiFalco of Know Fear, Kaiwi Lyman known for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Michael Beach from Tulsa King, Stephen Murphy of The Odyssey, and Tre Hale from All American.
Michael Matthews, the director of Love and Monsters and the TV series Nautilus, also directed Empire City.
The script was penned by Brian Tucker, known for his work on Secret Invasion, and S. Craig Zahler, who directed Bone Tomahawk.

The new movie Greenland 2: Migration, directed by Butler, was recently released in theaters and has received generally mixed reactions, currently holding a 48% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Hayley Atwell is returning as Peggy Carter in Marvel’s new Avengers: Doomsday movie, set to hit theaters right before Christmas. Sources say she’ll also be in Secret Wars, coming out next year.
Empire City does not currently have a release date.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and this edition honors music superstar Dolly Parton! You can purchase ‘Dolly at 80’ at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
