There is good news to report about David Fincher and Netflix’s Cliff Booth movie.
According to an Instagram post by Jarred Land, filming for the new Quentin Tarantino movie – currently known as The Adventures of Cliff Booth – finished on January 15th. This brings the long-awaited sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood closer to being finished.
Land announced on social media that filming wrapped today on the new movie directed by Fincher and Tarantino, sharing a photo of a signed slate listing the director, cinematographer, and writer.
You know, being on set with this crew for the last year has been a real privilege. They’ve poured their hearts and souls into this project, and it shows. It’s been a learning experience for everyone involved – a true masterclass in filmmaking. And honestly, the cinematographer, Erik Messerschmidt, really pushed the boundaries with the visuals. I have a feeling this one is going to be something special.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, but it’s anticipated to be available on Netflix around 2026.
Details about the movie’s story are being kept secret, but Brad Pitt, known for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will reprise his part as stuntman Booth. He’ll be joined by Timothy Olyphant, playing James Stacy. Leonardo DiCaprio, however, won’t be returning, as he reportedly turned down an offer to make a brief appearance.
Alongside Brad Pitt, the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood features Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, and Peter Weller, all playing currently unannounced characters.
Shortly after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood came out, Quentin Tarantino mentioned he’d like to do another story featuring Cliff Booth, specifically focusing on Booth’s experiences as a prisoner of war during World War II.
Quentin Tarantino, the creator of Pulp Fiction, wrote a screenplay about Rick Dalton’s stunt double, Cliff Booth, focusing on Booth’s work as a Hollywood problem-solver in the 1970s. However, Tarantino chose not to direct it, as he didn’t want to make a film too similar to his previous work.
Brad Pitt brought on David Fincher to direct the movie, which was based on a script by Quentin Tarantino, and Netflix funded the production. With a reported budget of approximately $200 million, it’s Fincher’s most costly film to date.
Filming for The Adventures of Cliff Booth began last summer, and set photos revealed Brad Pitt wearing outfits reminiscent of his look in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
I was so excited when the leaked set footage from the film surfaced in September! It showed a clear connection to Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction – Brad Pitt’s Booth actually visits a Big Kahuna Burger joint! It’s such a fun detail, implying he’s a fan of the same burgers Samuel L. Jackson’s Jules Winnfield loves. It’s those little touches that really get me excited about this movie.
The movie The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be available in select cinemas at the same time it starts streaming on Netflix.
