Home Alone’s Daniel Stern suffers major career blow after allegedly soliciting prostitution

I’m absolutely floored! Can you believe it? Daniel Stern – the guy who was Kevin’s older brother, Marv, in Home Alone – he’s been dropped from a new TV show pilot! Apparently, he’s facing a charge – just one, thankfully – related to… well, it’s a prostitution thing. I mean, seriously? Marv Merchants getting in trouble like that? It’s just… shocking. They pulled him from the show immediately, which, I guess, is what happens, but it’s still so weird to think about. I’m a huge fan, and this is just… a lot.

Police cited the 68-year-old actor on December 10th for allegedly attempting to pay for sexual acts at a hotel in Camarillo, California.

He was not detained or arrested in connection with the incident.

I’m following the case of Stern closely, and it’s heading to a hearing on February 6th. If he’s found guilty, he could be looking at up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. It’s a serious situation, and we’ll be keeping an eye on how it unfolds.

Okay, so you will NOT believe this! Before all the awards buzz even started, my absolute fave, Stern, landed a regular role on this new comedy called ‘Do You Want Kids?’! And get this – he’s going to be working with Rachel Bloom and Rory Scovel! I’m seriously losing it – it’s going to be amazing, I just know it!

The show centers on Rosie and Alex, a married couple, and explores what their lives look like in two different realities: one where they have a child, and another where they don’t.

Howard Stern was originally going to play Freddy Zilbalodis, the tough-talking head of the Zilbalodis family, but ABC has told Daily Mail that they are now looking for a different actor for the part.

Daily Mail has contacted Stern for comment.

Daniel Stern is most famous for playing Marv, the clumsy burglar in the first two Home Alone movies, alongside Joe Pesci’s character, Harry.

He previously revealed he had to fight to get a raise for the sequel.

After the first Home Alone movie was a huge success in 1990, and a second film was approved, John Hughes remembered the studio offering him $600,000.

In his 2024 memoir, the actor shared that he was offered twice his original salary for the sequel, but his fellow cast members had been offered much larger deals from the start—amounts reaching millions of dollars.

He explained that he requested additional funding from Twentieth Century Fox because Joe Pesci, who played his partner in crime, was earning between $2 and $3 million.

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it! His last TV appearance was as Eli Hobson in season four of For All Mankind on Apple TV back in 2023. I rewatched that season like, five times just for him! It’s so sad knowing that was the last time we’d see him on screen, but at least it was in such an amazing show. I’ll cherish those episodes forever!

I remember seeing him in ‘James vs. His Future Self’ back in 2019 – Jeremy Lalonde directed it, and it was his last movie role as far as I know. It was a fun film!

The film features Jonas Chernick as James, a scientist working on time travel. His life gets complicated when his future self, portrayed by Stern, travels back from 17 years ahead and insists James abandon his research.

Stern announced in December that he’s moved out of Hollywood and is now living on a farm, where he grows tangerines.

In a TikTok video, he explained, ‘Hi everyone, as many of you know, I live on a farm where we grow tangerines.’

Recently, someone harvested fruit from my trees. I’d like them to fill a bin for me next time, so I can make juice, freeze it, and share it with my friends.

‘I just wanted to show you what is it like, here are our tangerines, there is my bucket.’

He gained over 1.6 million views on another video where he showed off one of the sculptures he was creating.
