Mickey Rourke is strongly condemning a fundraiser organized in his name that unexpectedly brought in over $100,000. He calls it a humiliating “scam” and a “cruel lie,” and warns that whoever created it will face serious consequences.
The online fundraiser created to help Mickey Rourke avoid eviction and pay his nearly $60,000 in back rent has been removed. Now, others are using his name on their own, less public fundraising campaigns.

Hollywood Inc.
Mickey Rourke, an Academy Award nominee, is facing eviction from his Los Angeles home because he owes almost $60,000 in back rent. The home is a three-bedroom property.
A search for “Mickey Rourke” on GoFundMe last Friday morning showed over a dozen fundraising campaigns trying to benefit from interest in the actor’s recent troubles, but the official campaign created for him, related to his role in “9½ Weeks,” was not among them.
The online fundraiser for Mickey Rourke was temporarily stopped last week after quickly exceeding $100,000 in just two days. His manager, Kimberly Hines, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, saying they were thankful for every donation and working with Rourke to figure out how to best use the funds to address his current situation.
Rourke turned down the donations, calling the fundraiser “humiliating” and “extremely embarrassing” in a video he posted last week, and stated he didn’t require the funds.
The 73-year-old actor, a popular leading man in the 1980s known for films like “Barfly” and “Angel Heart” and an Oscar nominee for “The Wrestler,” admitted he had no idea what a GoFundMe was. He explained that he lives a simple life and doesn’t rely on outside help or fundraising platforms.

Mickey Rourke, the actor, was facing eviction due to nearly $60,000 in back rent. Fortunately, his management team started a GoFundMe campaign and successfully raised that amount – and more – to cover his debt.
Later in the video, he explained that he would never ask strangers or fans for money, stating, “That just isn’t how I operate.”
Hines disputes this, stating she’s been personally funding Rourke’s relocation – first from his Beverly Grove house to a hotel, and then to an apartment in Koreatown.
The fundraiser was initially credited to Hines’ assistant, with Hines designated to receive the funds. However, Hines’ manager of nine years told the Hollywood Reporter on January 6th that Rourke was aware the fundraiser wasn’t his idea. She explained that her team had discussed the plan with Hines’ assistant before launching it, and both sides had agreed it was fine.
According to Hines, the goal isn’t to ask for handouts from Mickey. He wants to see Mickey back at work, not relying on crowdfunding. Fortunately, Hines shared with The Hollywood Reporter that Mickey has already received four movie offers in the last day, with more coming in. This is a positive sign, as Mickey hadn’t been getting calls about work recently.

Mickey Rourke has refused a $100,000 donation raised by his fans in just two days. Interestingly, his manager reports that movie offers are now starting to come in for him again.
Rourke continued to express concern on Thursday via Instagram, stating that over $90,000 still needed to be refunded to his supporters. He assured followers that his lawyer was working diligently to ensure everyone received their money back.
He also expressed gratitude to friends who offered support after they noticed a misleading request for money, specifically mentioning UFC president Dana White and fighter Bill Wallace.
In a video posted on January 6th, filmed from his hotel room, Rourke expressed his gratitude for having basic necessities – shelter and food. He asked people to simply refund his money, stating he didn’t need it and wouldn’t have resorted to asking for funds this way, as it went against his principles and personal pride. He emphasized that this approach wasn’t how he typically operated.
