Landman Season 2 Teases Dark End For Cooper & Ariana’s Relationship

Be warned, this contains spoilers for the ninth episode of Landman season 2! The show is hinting that things are going to end badly for Cooper and Ariana after the events of the latest episode. Their relationship has been a stable force throughout the series, and they’ve shared a deep emotional connection, especially after the tragic accident at the beginning of the season. Of all the characters on Landman, Cooper and Ariana have arguably had the most heartfelt connection, offering each other support and comfort.

Season 2 of Landman has shown Cooper facing challenges as he tries to become successful in the oil business. Now that his company has been absorbed by M-Tex, his earnings depend on the larger corporation. More importantly, his relationship with Ariana is threatened by the consequences of his choices in episode 9 of the current season.

Cooper Might Be Going To Jail For Saving Ariana

Okay, so the season finale of Landman was seriously disturbing. This guy, a client we’ve seen throughout the season who kept making Ariana super uncomfortable with his advances, actually cornered her behind The Patch Cafe. It escalated into a physical and sexual assault, which was awful to watch. Thankfully, Cooper showed up right when things were at their worst and managed to pull the guy off of her and knock him out with a punch. It was a really intense and thankfully, ultimately, heroic moment.

Despite initially intending to just restrain him, Cooper escalates the situation, repeatedly punching the man until Ariana fears he’ll go too far. He finally stops when Barney intervenes and calls the police, and the couple recounts the incident. The episode concludes with a reveal that the entire fight was recorded by the building’s security cameras.

Although Cooper did the right thing by saving Ariana, his relationship with her might be in trouble because he continued to attack her attacker. While the first few punches to protect her are legally understandable, seriously injuring the man could lead to criminal charges for Cooper.

How Cooper’s Arrest Would End His Relationship With Ariana

If Cooper is arrested, his wedding plans with Ariana will likely be delayed while he handles the legal issues. The show has already established that Ariana is worried about losing him, and jail time presents a significant new threat. This could finally be the breaking point for their relationship, potentially leading to a split in season 3 of Landman.

Despite everything, Ariana has consistently supported Cooper through his difficulties over the past two seasons. While they’ve had their ups and downs, Landman has repeatedly pointed out how strong their bond is, regardless of the situation. Even if Cooper’s legal issues were to cause them to split up, she would probably still be there for him.
