Satoru Gojo’s temporary removal from Jujutsu Kaisen will definitely be noticed by both the characters in the show and its fans. However, with Gojo currently trapped in the Prison Realm, other characters have a chance to step forward. Gojo was so dominant that it was difficult for characters like Choso, Yuta Okkotsu, and Yuki Tsukumo to really stand out.
The upcoming Culling Games arc in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will finally give some interesting characters a chance to really shine. We’re sure to meet plenty of new, captivating characters who will quickly become fan favorites, such as Hiromi Higuruma, a lawyer who also happens to be a jujutsu sorcerer. But one character in particular is already being called the coolest of the arc, and he might even become more popular than Satoru Gojo!
Kinji Hakari Is a Charismatic Sorcerer on Par With Gojo
Kinji Hakari was introduced briefly in the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen as a student who got in trouble at Jujutsu High due to his difficult personality. Now, he runs the Gachinko Fight Club, a place where sorcerers fight for cash. Because he hasn’t appeared in the last two seasons, there’s a lot of anticipation to see what happens when he finally returns to the screen.
I remember when Kinji Hakari showed up during the Culling Games – people instantly had strong opinions about him, and it was pretty split. He’s clearly powerful, but he’s even more of a rule-breaker than Gojo, and doesn’t seem to care at all about what anyone else thinks or about the usual ways things are done in the jujutsu world. He’s just incredibly sure of himself, maybe even a little arrogant.
Kinji, similar to Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, doesn’t hold back what he thinks. However, they express themselves differently. Gojo is careful and polite when making his points, while Kinji is unpredictable and easily gets frustrated if others aren’t as enthusiastic as he is. He describes this need for passion as a “fever” and actively tries to inspire it in everyone he meets. This drive is strongest when he’s using his abilities as a sorcerer.
Kinji Hakari’s Cursed Technique Is a Showstopper For Every JJK Sorcerer
Kinji thinks people are at their most passionate and driven when they’re taking big risks. He sees casinos as places where people desperately try to change their fortunes, and this intense desire is what he calls ‘fever.’ Ultimately, Kinji hopes to ignite this same passion across Japan with his Gachinko Fight Club.
Kinji’s cursed technique is heavily influenced by his love of gambling, and his Domain Expansion reflects this by turning the battlefield into a pachinko parlor. Inside, the odds of winning a jackpot – getting three numbers to align – are incredibly low, just 1 in 239. But if he does win, he activates his ‘Unkillable Mode,’ making his technique even more chaotic and over-the-top. When Kinji hits the jackpot, music starts playing within the domain, and he gains an unlimited supply of cursed energy for as long as the song lasts.
Kinji’s “Unkillable” mode refers to his ability to instantly activate his healing powers using cursed energy, making him incredibly difficult to defeat. This unique skill is what allows Kinji to be one of the few sorcerers with a real chance against powerful opponents.
While Gojo seems to be relying on Yuta to watch over Yuji now that he’s out of the picture, fans of Jujutsu Kaisen should really be focusing on Kinji Hakari. It’s unusual for Gojo to acknowledge another sorcerer’s strength, let alone admit someone could actually beat him. With his impressive and unpredictable cursed technique, Hakari is easily one of the most exciting characters in Jujutsu Kaisen and is sure to be a highlight of the Winter 2026 arc.
