Janice Dickinson ‘claims she was on sleeping medication given to her by an ITV medic when she suffered horrific fall on I’m A Celeb as she pursues £700k lawsuit’

Janice Dickinson says she was taking sleep medication prescribed by medical staff on the set of I’m A Celebrity South Africa when she had a bad fall. This new detail comes as part of her £700,000 lawsuit against the show.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what happened to my absolute idol! She’s seventy years young and was doing AMAZING on ‘All Stars,’ but she had to leave the show last year! She tripped in the dark at the camp – can you imagine?! – and ended up with some really nasty injuries to her head and face. I was devastated! I just hope she’s okay and recovers quickly, she deserves all the happiness in the world!

As many of you may have heard, back in September I learned that Janice filed a claim with the High Court against ITV. She shared with the press that last October, while filming a pre-recorded show, she unfortunately tripped and fell, resulting in injuries. She’s seeking compensation for what happened, and I really hope she’s able to recover fully.

Janice says she was permanently disfigured and suffered nerve damage after tripping in the dark. She also claims a medic working for ITV gave her sleeping pills before the fall.

According to legal documents, this medication can cause sleepiness and make it hard to stay steady, which could be especially dangerous for her when she’s moving around at night.

People close to the actress say her injuries have also impacted her work as a model.

According to a source speaking to The Mirror, Janice has been a leading model for many years, famously representing brands like Chanel, Dior, and Versace. The recent hardship she’s experienced is incredibly upsetting.

The publication has received documents filed with London’s High Court by the law firm Taylor Hampton.

Doctors say Janice has lasting scars, disfigurement, and nerve damage to her face that cannot be fixed with surgery.

Janice is now seeking compensation from ITV, arguing they are legally responsible. Sources say she believes her fall was caused by a combination of sleep medication and the dim lighting in camp.

The fashion icon first appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2007 and then returned for the show’s special edition in South Africa in 2023.

Janice likely tripped and fell in the dark because one of the camp’s night lights wasn’t turned on. Reports suggest she got up in the early morning to use the restroom and fell while navigating the campsite in the dark.

When reached for comment by the Daily Mail, Janice’s spokesperson, Dermot McNamara, stated that Janice is dedicated to resolving this legal matter and is eager to see how ITV responds.

ITV has received and reviewed a claim from Janice Dickinson. They confirmed that the health and safety of everyone involved in their shows is their top concern, and they have strong safety procedures in place.

We disagree with this account of what happened. However, we did provide care for Janice, covered her medical bills, and arranged for her to return home to Los Angeles. Throughout the seven months following her return to America and until after the show finished airing, the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ team maintained consistent communication with Janice and her representatives.

Employers are also worried this could encourage other injured contestants to sue, and it might lead to future participants of ‘I’m A Celebrity’ having to sign legal waivers before appearing on the show.

After being removed from the show and receiving medical attention, Janice reportedly felt deeply hurt and upset when some of her fellow contestants compared her to a witch.

When Helen Flanagan received Janice’s goodbye letter as Janice was leaving, former cricket captain Phil Tufnell jokingly remarked that she’d signed it ‘with her broomstick’.

His remark prompted laughter from Joe Swash, Dean Gaffney and Myleene Klass.

According to a source speaking to Daily Mail, Janice was deeply upset after reviewing the video footage for her legal proceedings, particularly because she had previously publicly thanked Phil for supporting her during an injury.

Everyone assumed it was a minor accident, just a slip and fall. But it was much more serious. She didn’t just scrape herself – she had deep wounds on her face, bleeding heavily from four different places. It was a terrifying sight, like something from a horror movie.

Phil noticed she was scared and badly hurt, and understood how a fall could shake someone’s self-esteem. Regardless of your opinion of her, those comments were unnecessary. She was really upset to see Joe and Myleene laughing at them – it was out of character for both of them.

Janice was shocked that those comments were broadcast and by the blatant ageism and sexism they contained. She pointed out that young women are never labeled with such negative terms.

After Janice was bitten, she needed three rabies shots. Initially, ITV didn’t want to pay for the treatment, according to The Sun.

She also claimed they failed to contact her directly once she had returned home to Los Angeles.

Janice shared with the publication that ITV should be held accountable for what happened to her. She described being severely injured, with cuts and bleeding on her face, and claimed that ITV staff left her alone in the dark for ten minutes while she was in that condition. She feels ITV failed to provide the care and support they were obligated to offer.

After the campfire went out, it got really dark, and I felt uneasy. I decided to try and walk to the toilet – I figured I could find my way from memory, even in the dark.

I took a few steps and suddenly tripped, falling face-first. I ended up with hair in my eyes, a bloody nose, and a badly cut chin.

I was bleeding heavily from multiple cuts and scrapes, and my face was covered in dirt and small rocks from the fall.

She described feeling a severe headache, rating the pain around a nine out of ten, and just lying there, groaning. She said the accident was sudden and unexpected.
