Game of Thrones Sequel Replaces Jon Snow with Arya Stark

A potential sequel to Game of Thrones focusing on Jon Snow is back in development at HBO, but may no longer center around his character. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is being rewritten with a new writer, and now includes Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) as a key figure.

Along with the announcement, details have emerged about the planned Game of Thrones spinoff centered on Jon Snow. The series, co-created by Kit Harington – who played Jon Snow – would have followed him living as a solitary and disillusioned man after the events of the original show.

You know, as a huge fan, I always found it fascinating how Kit Harington approached Jon Snow. Apparently, after ‘Game of Thrones’ ended, he was really grappling with a lot – it was a tough time for him, and he even went to rehab. The planned spin-off series would have actually shown that struggle, with Jon symbolically letting go of his past – building and then destroying cabins, even intentionally losing Longclaw and driving Ghost away. It was a way to explore his own feelings, but thankfully, it sounds like Kit’s in a much better place now and has moved on from the role.

HBO initially rejected the idea for a sequel series, finding it too bleak. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a new writer, Quoc Dang Tran, is now reworking the plans. One possibility being considered is setting the show in Essos, a continent inspired by the Mediterranean, rather than the familiar Westeros. The story would follow Arya Stark, now a skilled assassin, as she journeys through this new land after leaving Westeros at the end of Game of Thrones.
