As a big follower of Married At First Sight, I was surprised to hear that Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly have dropped the Apprehended Violence Orders they took out against each other last year. It seems like they’re finally moving on from all that drama in court, which is a bit of a relief, honestly.
After their relationship ended and became public on social media following their time on a reality TV show, the two individuals filed lawsuits against each other.
Donnelly’s request for a violence restraining order was dropped and closed on October 2nd after a successful mediation took place in September, according to court records obtained by Daily Mail.
Magistrate Peter Thompson dismissed the Apprehended Violence Order and cancelled the hearing that was planned for January 16th.
The temporary restraining order Launceston Magistrates Court issued to Burfoot in March has been indefinitely postponed.
The court told Daily Mail that the restraining order against Burfoot is still active, but won’t be heard in court unless she specifically asks for it to be rescheduled and continues pursuing the case.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Last June, it was all over the news! Donnelly and Burfoot – Donnelly and Burfoot! – actually ended up in Campbelltown Local Court. Apparently, Donnelly took out an AVO against his ex, the woman everyone thought was his wife on the show! I was glued to the updates, it was insane!
Burfoot and Donnelly hadn’t seen each other in person since they finished filming season 12 of Married at First Sight in November 2024.
After the court hearing was postponed, Burfoot, accompanied by her fiancé and fellow Married at First Sight star Clint Rice, remained silent when approached by reporters regarding the accusations.
Her barrister, Marcia Edwards, said it would be prejudicial for her to speak.
Donnelly shared with reporters that he found the situation emotionally challenging, explaining that his ex-co-star frequently mentioned him online.
He said he had never thought his on-screen marriage would turn out this way.
‘It wasn’t the adventure I had planned,’ he told reporters.
I hoped to experience a really fulfilling time in my life, build strong relationships, and end things on good terms, remaining friends with everyone involved.

The case is scheduled to be back in court on July 29, 2025. Edwards and Wakim had previously agreed to try mediation, scheduling a session for September of last year.
Edwards informed the court that they want to schedule a hearing for early next year, as soon as one is available. However, they hope to cancel the hearing if they can resolve the issue through mediation.
Okay, so this legal issue was originally scheduled for a hearing in January, but thankfully, it’s been completely resolved through mediation! That means we were able to reach an agreement outside of court, which is always the best outcome – everyone saves time, money, and stress. It’s now officially off the books, and we can all move forward.
