Netflix announced that a brand new series starring comedian Pete Davidson is in the works. Davidson has worked with Netflix before, releasing two stand-up specials: Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli and Pete Davidson: Alive from New York. This new project marks a different kind of collaboration as Netflix expands into new types of programming.
I’m so excited for Pete Davidson’s new show! It’s a video podcast called The Pete Davidson Show, and it starts streaming on Netflix on January 30th. New episodes will come out every week. Apparently, Pete will be chatting with all his celebrity friends – really getting into some honest conversations, and it’s all filmed right in his garage! It’s one of the first video podcasts Netflix is making, which is pretty cool.
Netflix is now offering a variety of podcasts from other creators, in addition to its original content. Shows like The Bill Simmons Podcast (which started streaming January 11th), 3 and Out with John Middlekauff, Pardon My Take, The Breakfast Club, My Favorite Murder, and The Zach Lowe Show are all available on the platform, among others.
On Wednesday, Netflix revealed a new sports podcast called The White House, which will be hosted by former NFL player Michael Irvin. The show will feature two new episodes each week, beginning January 19th. Irvin has been involved in acting and sports commentary since his retirement from professional football in 2000, with roles in projects like The Longest Yard and Criminal Minds.
Pete Davidson was a cast member on Saturday Night Live for eight seasons, from 2014 until 2022. He’s also appeared in several movies and TV shows, including popular titles like The Pickup, Bodies Bodies Bodies, The Suicide Squad, and The King of Staten Island. He has some exciting projects coming up too, such as a romantic comedy called That Time We Met with Ella Purnell, and he’ll also be in the films Wizards! and How to Rob a Bank.

Pete Davidson’s upcoming podcast will be created with help from Ayala Cohen, a former castmate on Saturday Night Live, and Marc Lieberman, who heads Above Average. Sarah Brennan Kolb (known for Major Arcana and Good Ol Girl) will direct. If this podcast—and other original podcasts like it—do well, Netflix might start producing more podcasts in the future.
